I can't seem to access the member map. I've clicked on the activate button on my email and it says that number is already active.

You should be good to go now. I don't know why the link didn't activate it for you, but I just did manually.
Hello! Super excited to be a member! I just activated my account after I received my emblem in the mail. #10671. Not sure how to upgrade my account to "member" status.

If you have the gold "Member" banner under your avatar on the web version of the forum, your account has been activated.
