2017 F150 Build suggestions?
I'm planning to tackle the Trans America Trail May of 2018. Was wondering if any of you had ever modded a F150 or similar vehicle for Overlanding and what are your suggestions?
All advice is appreciated.Photo Nov 04, 5 40 51 PM.jpg

I have an F150 that is pretty well build for overland travel..... how much are you looking to spend? how crazy do you want to get with it?

at a min I would do a small lift and fit 35" tires on it.... I suggest ICON.

you can look at my build thread or you can look at my setup here:

I really like your truck! I agree about lift ad tires but haven't decided between 35s and 37s.
Your rack is awesome but how does it impact your fuel mileage with the Roof top tent?

Big difference in 35 and 37. If you go 37s your going to defiantly need to re gear your axles... Right now I get 15mpg with everything on the truck.

Nice rig! I opted for 37s vs 35s for just a little extra clearance from the axels but the F150 is IFS so you can probably run 35s and still get solid clearance in the front.

Do you have a pic of your truck?

35 on a F150 is as big as you want to go before regearing. On my old superduty I was running 37s easily because it was diesel like yours.....

I was thinking about a lower rack so the Roof Top Tent would be tucked in behind the cab.
You prob want something like my old setup....
This one is a front runner serup

Raul I do like the rack you just showed me, especially how it is low behind the cab.
Why did you switch? Was there something about it yo didn't like?

Only reason I switched was because I also have the decked drawers and since that rack sat soo low I had a very small area to load up gear.

Is that truck an ecoboost? And where can I find that bumper?

Its not a ecoboost.. I have a 5.0L. And the bumper was made by mercanry offroad. This bumper will not work with your stock intercooler location... so only way you could put it on is by relocating your intercooler

Yeah I’m researching it I can’t find a bumper that would mount a winch or a method to mount a winch on an ecoboost without relocating my intercooler. Kinda stinks...

I am working on building my 16 f150 for the same purpose. I am thinking a lower rack will work best to be able to fit it in the garage and help get rid of drag while interstate driving.

Is yours an ecoboost or coyote? That’s exactly what I need as well. CBI’s here in Idaho Falls but they mainly do builds for Toyota. Any luck in your research?
