What do you have planned for the rear to handle the weight? I dig the bed setup. Someday I'll find a nicelt priced used ARE cap so I can do something similar.
For folks like me that use their cell phone for navigation and photos while adventuring I find it beneficial to put the phone in airplane mode when you don't need to make calls/texts nor want to receive them. You'll significantly extend battery life and GPS still works.
If you haven't seen them in person I highly recommend it. They look much more robust and aggressive in person. I enjoy reviewing tires and I'm not shy about talking about bad points so I'll report back especially if they perform poorly since most reviews for these tires are very positive.
Got the 33s put on today. They look pretty rad but you can definitely feel the weight in the steering wheel and the way the suspension behaves. It's not as spritely off the line either. It's all about tradeoffs though. My fender clearancing work made them fit perfectly but the OEM wheel offset...
The Gen2 Colorado/Canyon wheel wells can fit a 255/75/17 (32.1") tire with no problems but when stepping up the width you quickly run out of room when turning the wheel left and right. To fit larger tires like a 285/70/17 (33") you need to trim back the pinch weld behind the tire in the front...

Thanks for the invite! I'll get up there within the next two years. We want to do a family trip up through Idaho and Montana up into Alberta for Banff/Jasper then cut over to see as much of BC as we can. I've only visited Vancouver a few times to see a friend but never explored anything outside...
Wonderful photos and thanks for sharing.
I believe those wooden structures in your first post are traditional fish drying racks built by First Nations people.

A fishing rod, a mountain bike or a cell phone (for the camera). I cannot adventure without at least one of these. I prefer to have all three.
I think you're going to find that you don't need to buy expensive parts for your rig to have a good adventure. For some it's a cold beer or their best...
This is one of the reasons I bought my first Canyon instead of a Colorado in 2016. The Canyons came equipped with AutoTrac auto 4wd which will drive in 2wd then switch to "4wd" when slip is detected. The Colorado up until 2017 didn't offer it. The feature came in handy during winter when our...

It was a simple custom job. He had some angle iron lying aound which formed the base and we ordered a length of 1" x 3" rectagnular tube steel to form the hoops. Later we added some flat steel between the hoops to mount stuff to but we need to weld in some extra support for those as the move too...
Depends on how much mud you plan to hit really. For Overlanding as opposed to straight up wheeling I'm finding the Geolandar AT G015 to be pretty darn capable and even durable considering I'm running a P-metric but it's going to fail in real mud. The Subaru folks love that tire and the BFG KO2...
For such a "charged" thread topic I am further impressed by the quality of folks we have in OB. The tread could have easily turned out terribly but instead everyone is so civil, honest yet civil. My hats off to ya.
