What does it get driving mostly freeway for a full tank like on a long trip in dry weather? At what average moh? That is more telling of what the truck can do. Your average daily driving mpg could be drastically lower if you have a very short commute (less than 10 miles), pre-heat the truck...
The saga of the chrome bumper....
After a failed attempt at painting the chrome to white (the white didn't match) I ended up saying F it and hit it with Rustoleum Bedliner spray. I could have taken it somewhere to have them LineX it but I didn't ant to spend any more money. I'd rather save up...
I picked up a new tailgate ornament.....
The packing of this bike is top notch! It cam 98% assembled and fully protected with tons of foam and carboard padding.
I think the roof rack/basket would be more useful, especially if you sleep in the car while camping. You can also put the spare tire and fuel up there. It's a good place to store traction boards too, particularly after they are covered in mud after use.
That's outstanding. Having a bunch of cool parts is one thing but having the end result perform like that is an acomplishment. Well done! Especially stuffing those massive tires with no rub.
The LT285/75/17 is 33.9". The next size up that may fit your rig is the 35×12.5R17 which is ever so slightly narrower than a 315. Unfortunately when you go that large it seems like most tires are LT E-metric. http://www.falkentire.com/tires/light-truck-suv-cuv-tires/wildpeaka/t3w-tire
The Nitto...
It's quite good and most importantly, it's way less expensive than KO2s, Durtracs and ST Maxx. They rate well in nearly all conditions except really deep mud. They are IMO one of the best looking AT tires out right now.
I received the 7mm wheel spacers today from Motorsport Tech. They look good!
This ring was on backwards when I took the photo. The torque relief "ring" that runs through the stud holes is supposed to be against the rotor.
No real poke but I'm ok with less crap being flung up onto the sides...
Happy to report I have zero clunk in the trunk! I still have a tiny bit of noise up front somewhere but 90% of the loud clunking I was hearing (front and rear) is absolutely gone. It's pretty crazy to think all of that was coming from those 2 top leaf springs.
FWIW, I installed the 1/8" rubber...
The Icon 2.0s are reasonably priced. You might check them out fir the rear. On the Colorado/Canyon they handle up to 2" of lift which is why I got them. My OE shocks were completely maxed out and sounded horrible when a wheel dropped into a hole. Bang!
I'll be receiving a Fezzari Wire Peak Elite for review this week or next. I've ridden a Focus Jam2 Pro Plus a few times in Tahoe and was hooked! I'm super excited to review one on my local trails.
I have one lung so long pedaling sufferfests are not my thing. My fiance races enduro but has a...
