2018 TRD pro VS 2018 Chevy ZR2 for overlanding

Aye, it's just you. The ceiling is uncomfortably low and the floor is uncomfortably high for me at 6'3". Now, that being said I see tall people drive Tacos all the time and they seem to enjoy their trucks but that doesn't change the fact that the GM Twins have more headroom and a more...

    2018 GMC Canyon MTB/Overland/Adventure Rig

Notes from a couple of recent long drives to Mammoth Lakes and how the front air dam affected fuel economy. Ok finished the trip and here's the skinny. I made the drive back home last night leaving Mammoth at approximately the same time of day and arriving home about 1hr earlier than last...

The Swisha Loop - Southwestern Quebec, full trip video included!

It's so hard to stop and make the time to get footage. I really respect the YouTubers like Lifestyle Overland and others. It's not easy to document progress when you are having fun, in trouble, or just plain tired. lol Nice work and I'm glad you understood where I was coming from.

Our new RTT first look. iKamper Skycamp Sleeps 4 deploys in 30 sec

It looks amazing and after checking out the website the company seems really cool. The price is comparable to other hard shell RTTs but I like this design much better. Umfortunately it's way more than I would spend on a tent.

2018 TRD pro VS 2018 Chevy ZR2 for overlanding

This is sort of a tough one. The ZR2 is just overall more comfortable off-road and on-road, especially for tall people and those who enjoy a smooth ride. It has a front locker which is pretty awesome for crawling but not truly needed for overlanding. It also has the diesel engine option while...

    REI and Overlanding?

I don't eat at Chick-fil-a for similar reasons. I don't agree with their religious/political stance. I think it's great that we have so many choices and can spend our money with businesses that share our worldviews and avoid those that don't. So I'll continue to shop at REI when the prices and...

The Swisha Loop - Southwestern Quebec, full trip video included!

The video was very well done and the intro was perfect. You had the core elements of a protagonist (you and friends) and several antagonists (bad weather and broken rigs). Your narrative worked well and was enoyable. I feel like you didn't collect enough footage (storyline and B-roll) and or...

Day Trip - Up & Down Signal Peak Trail, CA

Thank you! It would be really fun in a Jeep. Less stressful and you could try the alternate lines. Post up photos if you make it out there.

    2018 GMC Canyon MTB/Overland/Adventure Rig

We have a few trips coming up so I reinstalled the air dam with reversed clips. It's super easy to install/remove once the clips are reversed. It takes a couple of minutes at most. I also reinstalled the OEM front plastic "skid". I have the ZR2 oil pan skid installed right now and there are no...

    2018 GMC Canyon MTB/Overland/Adventure Rig

Got the tent mounted up for some camping trips/races coming up. We ran over to Mammoth Lakes, CA this weekend so my fiance' could get some practice runs in before next weekend's race. The kid, the dog and I went exploring while she rode the park. The lift helped a little with the heavy load but...

Day Trip - Up & Down Signal Peak Trail, CA

Thanks! You only have about a month or so to get up there before the snow hits amd shuts it down for the season so go for it! :)

Day Trip - Up & Down Signal Peak Trail, CA

After meeting back up further down the trail, I took the lead for a bit but this section was pretty uneventful. It wasn't quite "stock Z71" easy as you definitely need more clearance but there were no technical sections. After while we came to another split in the trail. This new trail cut off...

Day Trip - Up & Down Signal Peak Trail, CA

Adapted from my post on our Colorado/Canyon forum. Shayn is an OB member I believe. Shayn, his dad, Dean, and I hit up Signal Peak Trail today. GPX Track for GAIA or other GPS app. For those familiar with the trail, we ran it clockwise. I was pretty beat after a whirlwind trip to Mammoth...

2018 Toyota Tundra Double Cab build

The truck looks great! I too have to design around our mountain bike life. It's a little easier when you only have to carry 1 or 2 bikes around but when you also regularly serve as the shuttle rig things get a lot harder. Things like caps and bed drawers just don't work when you need to fit 5+...

    Tire Deflators

I picked up a set of Boulder Tool deflators on Amazon for around $26 and they work great. They are fairly loud though.

    Battery powered tools

Have the Ryobi 40v chainsaw and a few other 40v and 18v power tools and all except the weedeater get the job done. The chainsaw will work well enough for basic trail clearing on a short trip but extended trips like the Expedition Overland McKenzie Trail episodes will require a gas unit. :) All...

    Traction Board Review

I went with Maxsa for my truck and our work truck. I got the old work truck (2004 F250) sruck enough times with important people on board that I didn't want to risk using unknown traction boards. Maxtrax are too expensive and I found plenty of good reviews for Maxsa. I ended up buying 2 sets of...
