Well, I got the escape back from where I bought it. They repaired all rust holes, undercoated, installed new brakes all around, tone rigs for the abs, new plugs and more. It drives like a new rig now. I am thinking the noise is actually the tires. I have another person who used hercules...
Well, coming back to this, I have had vehicular schizophrenia for the past while. However owning my little escape for 4 months, I am loving it. It's getting near it's end becuase of rust, but I have decided to pick another one up in the states with no rust, and tow it back with a similar...
I have brought back many vehicles from our house in Florida. It's easy driving them back. It was eye opening though to see the escapes down there. And rangers too.
WOW, I just went on autotrader.com and looked at the available escapes down south of to the rust belt. I think I am going to visit down there after Mine finally succumbs to the red scurge. Most 2007s down there look brand new. I may even bring back an older expedition too. As soon as I...
Yeah, small rigs are where it's at. I am glad I am getting some extended time with my escape before the rusties take over completely. I will be going on the hunt for either a 4 runner (vintage) or something like that. Everyone here has full size trucks and crap like that.
Ok, an update on Jim (my escape). He had a few cancer areas, both rockers were bad, a huge hole behind the rear shock mount (rigidity of the shock mount is still there, hammer tested), and another one up front. All will be fixed free of charge by the dealer I bought him from. I flipped...
Quick question for the guys here. My escape is terrible on gas, like 66km on 1/4 tank bad. Any ideas besides the obvious spark plugs, filter and tb cleaning?
OK, it's a crappy brake rotor causing the noise as far as we know. None of the other parts got put on. I also found out the rockers are toast on the old beast. Gotta love that cladding. I am in the process of collecting the necessary body panels to weld back into the rig to make it solid...
Going in for some diagonstics on my issues, getting the exhaust tucked back up in the correct position, fluid change, and tire rotation today. I will report back on what we find. I need to check the 4wd light flash as well.
There is no "pan" on my trans. the filter is internal. You have to remove the trans and split it to replace the filter.
LANDLUBBER, I know about the alternator on the escape. I am driving a 2007 now. That being said, I can still change the fluids in that no issue. That's one of the...
I agree that older vehicles need maintenance, the flip side is that newer vehicles cannot have regular things done like transmission fluid changes and things like that. I have a 2015 jeep patriot with the non cvt transmission. I cannot replace the fluid or filter in my transmission and it is...
I agree wanderer. It's to bad that every 80s burb here is now history. They use salt on the roads here, and it eats vehicles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am actively looking for one. I only need a 1/2 ton version. Still solid front axle in the 80s so I am cool with that. Just put...
Thanks for the pics. I will be fabbing up one of those the spring. Next question, I have a new noise that has come up. Sort of a noise like if your tires are worn choppy or mt tires but the tone does not change if you drive on snow like it would with worn tires. Not sure if it’s central...
The the people quoting my statement about rock crawling, that was exactly my point. Most people do not want to go bouncing over rocks all day. They want to travel and explore. And most stock rigs with decent clearance gets you there. Hence th reason I started this thread. Anyone can...
Love the rigs. This thread just proves you can really use ANYTHING to get out in the back country. NO, you wont be doing hardcore rock crawling, but you can get around pretty much anywhere in any rig. Imagination is KEY!
