One thing I've noticed about these power stations is that if it doesn't explicitly state that it has a regulated 12v output, it's safe to assume it's not regulated.
I will mostly agree with you guys. One channel that I really like is Dirt Lifestyle. Yes it's mostly about jeeps, but he fabricates everything himself, and is currently building a Disco 2.
One thing I'm doing as I try to plan my channel out (I've not launched it yet, so this is not a plug) is...
I bought one last year. Absolutely worth the money. Based on usage so far, it should last us about a week of camping, probably longer, though we've not used it with a heater.
The reason i downsized the breaker was so i dont burn out my fusebox. The fusebox is 100A, with the relay box pulling whatever all my lights will be running (probably 40A or so when all said and done). Id rather air on the side of not starting an electrical fire, but if i need to have more...
I swapped out the 200A breaker for my aux electrical system with a 100A waterproof marine breaker.
I also rerouted my ground cable and added some wireloom to protect the wires running alongside the metal seat brackets.
Also discovered that my 90° brass barb fitting for my water system has a...
Sure do!
How-To: Cargo Drawers (2000 - 2004)
I built mine a little different, but used this as a starting point.
For the platform, I used 1/2in plywood instead of 3/4. It's plenty strong enough with the center support in there. I also built it as a single unit instead of a box for each...
Btw, when you're ready to build a drawer system, there's some great plans on xterraNation.com. I used those dimensions to design mine, and it fit perfectly. Just an FYI.
Good looking first gen!
The first thing I would do is make sure the timing belt gets changed, if you haven't done so already. Being an interfere engine, if it breaks, it could take the engine with it.
So, if you're unable to confirm that it was done before 105k,id do that before doing anything...
I do my overloading in the driveway most of the time.
As far as camping and what not, I spend most of the time in the Owyhees, but I've also been up just north of Boise a few times. Haven't explored that area as much as I would like yet.
I use a 5lb refillable bottle as well. It enough to cook on for about a week for me. I also keep a couple of green disposable canisters on hand as a backup, just in case.
The only time I take the big 20lb tank is when we're using a propane fire pit due to fire safety concerns.
I bought the...
Alot of my cping gear was stuff I already had as well (and still have). But like I said, I did run into some convience and comfort issues that needed addressing. Take that first trip I posted about as an example. I learned that air mattresses have zero thermal insulation. My solution was to buy...
To be fair, I have gobs of camera equipment that I take out as well, but that's not overland related, so didn't bother mentioning mine. I had a drone, but it's sitting at the bottom of a lake.
