Reaver's 03 Xterra XE "Gamora" build thread

I've not updated my build thread in a while. I replaced my Colorado with a 2013 Frontier pro4x. Leaving it stock for now. I might put a 2in lift on it next year and bump up to 33s. Bought a trailer that I'm going to build into an expo trailer. The wife and I have been discussing our needs for...

    1st gen Xterra build

Unlike SOME people, I won't post picture of my rig in your thread  (just giving ya'll a hard time!). My rig is stock height, running stock 265/70r16 tires, and I've not found that to be a hindrance at all. I've rubbed the frame rails a couple of times, and that's it. I'd say you're...

    1st gen Xterra build

Yeah, d22 xterras are slow, get crap gas milage, but I'll be damned if they don't go pretty much anywhere. I don't have to worry about my timing belt for another 50k. I don't envy that bill. On the plus side, at least you don't have to worry about pinstriping!

    1st gen Xterra build

Need pics! Welcome. I wish mine only had 89k. I'm sitting just below 150k. What kind of off road experience do you have? A PML and 32s will get you practically everywhere the 3in kit will get you. The 3in kit doesn't get you any more clearance either. And installing a body lift is a...

    Idaho Outdoor Experience

Oy. That's an 8 hour drive for me, so I'll probably pass until I hear how it goes for others. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread though.

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I spent a few hours trying to work out the layout for the interior of the trailer. I think I came up with a rather ingenious solution for the kitchen layout. The kitchen and fridge pull out on a set of 48" slides. The kitchen then folds out in three sections. I'm thinking of putting a...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

That's the idea! The goal is to always have the trailer loaded. Then it's just a matter of filling the water tank, and loading up with food. Then we can just hook up and go!

What's your latest camping gear purchase, and what caused you to buy it?

I noticed they came out with some new models. I plugged the vl70 dimensions into the program I'm designing my trailer in, and what do you know.... It fits! Lol. Not that I need that right now.... Congrats on the fridge!

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I probably will at some point. It's hard to say. I'm very likely to build the box out of wood though. When properly prepped, sealed, and painted, it'll last a very long time.

What's your latest camping gear purchase, and what caused you to buy it?

Sometimes, it's the nonly so glamorous things that make the biggest difference. My 5lb tank made life so much easier. My latest purchase is going to turn into a very fun, and useful project. I'm going to be building myself an expedition trailer! Feel free to follow along if you want...

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

I've got zero experience building a trailer, so I'm going to be doing a TON of research in the process. I'll make sure to post the info that I learn here as well.

    Reaver's DIY adventure box!

A little back story... For the last few years, my family of three (myself, wife, and 4yo daughter) have been camping using my 2003 Nissan Xterra adventure rig. Getting everything we need for a 4 day trip into the X is a challenge, to say the least. Tent, fridge, water, dog, sleeping gear...

Looking good! I really like the habitat recovery points. They're a great option for folks who don't need a full steel bumper.

Honestly, that's not bad considering what happened. I'm just glad it didn't happen while we were coming down off the mountain.

Good looking truck! I'm. Always liked those artic trucks. I wish I could afford one. No pictures yet of my frontier on the trail, but here's one of my Xterra as requested.

    Portable Power Station by Lijueky

I'm sure it's a perfectly fine power station. The question is, what is your intended use? I just got back from a 5 day trip using my rockpals 540Wh pack to run my fridge. I used a 120w solar panel to keep it topped up. One thing to keep in mind is that most of these units don't have a...

Boise Idaho and the Treasure Valley

@M Rose, @David H, myself and many others were out of cell phone range until last night. David H is your treasure valley member rep, and M Rose is the regional director. I live in Caldwell, and head out on a fairly regular basis. As far as I know, as of right now, there's nothing...
