US West Valley of the Moon

The May trip was supposed to be Overland Expo West, but that was moved to July. Any ideas on a new May trip? Things should be back to almost normal by then, I can’t imagine the stay at home order still being in place then.

Let's start up again where we left off and go to Trona Pinnacles. We haven't been there yet.

Temperatures will be going up in May for Trona Pinnacles for the end of April it’s looking like in the 90s

Been talking to a couple of people, May do a Mojave Road trip. No details yet, wont be staying at AVI Casino. That means drive up and camp a short way in the first night. I have never done it like that. The entrance normally has atvs and motor homes so, I would want to go in a bit and get away from them. My personal agenda is, exploring an area next to the canyon that washed out a couple of years ago. There's a mining site I spotted but never checked out. Other than that, just cruising it not rushing.

Lets work out a rough time frame and trip length as well as a vague roster. I still plan on doing this trip in the fall as well as a Death Valley trip.
3 days total would have to be minimum.

I’m interested, but it will depend on when. It looks like I’m going back to work Monday, but I don’t know how busy it will be. I need to put the front differential in my truck too!

I'm pretty much good anytime. Depending on how things go with the restrictions, we need to make a run down to our place in Baja as we haven't been there since January. Right now, we're looking at possibly mid-June, so anything in May for this trip is looking good for me.

Sorry I haven't posted anything. My job put me on furlough and EDD thinks I made exactly $0.00 last year. That means I get no money. You cant actually talk to a person due to the huge amount of people out of work. been trying to get this fixed but no reply's to my "help" tickets.

So, going out anyway. When we get done I'm heading up to Vegas to visit family.
Opinions needed here on time frame.
How does Thursday-Sunday sound? Figure out a meeting time/place Thursday in Laughlin and find a place to camp a short ways in? If I recall (correct me if i'm wrong), its about 3 hours (ish) to Fort Piute from the start. I'm thinking first camp before that unless we end up with everyone meeting early then camping just beyond it.

FYI. I cant share my GPX files with tracks and waypoints. Those are on my PC which decided to burn out two weeks ago (been a stressful time here). I do have everything on my tablet/nav system. I normally post these for longer trips.

It’s a stressful time for us all. I’m going to have to miss this one too, after nearly 40 years of not needing a tow truck, my truck just got its second tow this year. The igniter went out, and those are discontinued from the dealer, not available aftermarket, and fairly hard to find used. I have one coming, but it won’t get here until Wednesday. I’m looking into other options, LC Engineering has a nice replacement kit, or there is a GM HEI conversion. The old truck is starting to show her age at 40. Have fun, stay safe, and take some good pictures!
