Overland Challenges and Gear to Meet Them, Organized

  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

So let's see how I can put this to words.

Every human has mutual needs. Every overlander is met with mutual challenges. Water gathering, water filtering, food storage, shelter. Then there are things more specific to overlanding like recovery gear, etc. As I am planning my outfitting I can't help but think of all the clever ways you guys must have overcome such challenges. All the different ways you've used human technology and engineering for survival. And I'm sure everyone puts their own touch on each solution.

So I was thinking, maybe a series of forums/threads that are organized like this:

WATER
Gathering (posts explaining briefly how you get water when off grid)
Storage (transporting the water)
Filtration

FOOD
Storage
Cooking Tools

SHELTER
Sleeping

HYGIENE
Bathing
Relieving
Shaving
etc.

The layout can be discussed, but essentially the CAPS titles are the main topics and what's written below are subsections. The point being to provide overlanders with an organized open source resource stating overlanding challenges and the solutions to meet them.
