    Hauling wood

Definitely got a hitch stabilizer, it's a night and day difference. Loaded I don't notice much, but I don't put a lot of weight on it. What I have on it in the picture is just to show how big it is, normally it's just a layer or a few boxes of wood. I hadn't thought of using it for hauling...

Thanks for the replies, that's good info! I can't find where ADF is located, I'm assuming socal? On the wiring, did you fuse it somewhere? Also, did you run through the firewall? I ran through mine for some headlight stuff and it was probably the worst hour I've ever had with my car. Makes...

Oh man do I have questions for you. ADF lift, you like it? I saw from your build thread you had ADF install it, would you mind sharing the price with installation? Electrical plugins. That looks like the back of the center console. Did you wire direct from the battery for that? Is there a...

    NW (SF Bay Area) Meetup

I might be interested... Do you have more info on it? Specifically price, weight, brand, specs. Honestly if you wouldn't mind bringing it, even if I don't get it, I would absolutely love checking it out. I hadn't planned on getting one until after we moved out of state, but at minimum, I'd...

Nice! If you haven't yet, check out the Apache trail, it's just up the street from you. When we lived in Phoenix, we went up there a few times. There's also a pretty good campground on it.

I'll also be at the meet up in a couple weeks in Longmont. Also Tepui is in Santa Cruz I think if you wanna go check out what they have.

Thule if I remember, the square ones. Aero doesn't quite cut it, the square ones just barely made the weight. I have the stock bars up there too, but they aren't hooked up to anything.

Nice! Mine loves it, it took some time to get her to agree, but once we got it hooked up and open she was totally sold.

Got a CVT Mt. Shasta. Took it out about 4 times so far, loving it!

I put a roof top tent on my Forester and lost a mile or two on the freeway, basically nothing on city streets though.

    Forester XT build - Overland/Bugout

Premier Subaru in Fremont is pretty good for service. Stevens Creek has this like month long wait list, but Premier can get you in the next day. They are the guys that swapped my transmission and even hooked me up with a free oil change last time.

Itchin' for a group of Bay Area regulars

Every so often there's a meet up in the Longmont area, iirc Michael and Corrie are in Dublin or something, so they'll often show up to those. Actually, looks like there's a meet up August 5th at Epidemic Brewery. Here's the link

    Cooler Suggestions

Pelican 45qt wheeled cooler. First time taking it out, ice was melting about as quickly as my buddy's Coleman. I wasn't thrilled. I emailed Pelican, told them the issue and they mailed out a new gasket. Once I installed that, the ice holds for about 9 days now. Pretty good product! I'd...

    Solar panels and theft

Ok call me paranoid, but I try to always either keep my gear locked in the car or a pain in the ass to steal if I leave it out. I do this even when we're in the middle of nowhere. So I'm looking into a solar setup and honestly can not figure out what people do when you guys hit up the...

    Forester XT build - Overland/Bugout

They are all pretty much the same as long as you get a class three. They all mount to the same three points. I got the Curt hitch on Amazon because it was stupid cheap compared to the ecohitch, same quality and out of all the hitches, hung the closest to the bumper (meaning less of a loss of...

    Hauling wood

Yeesh! I went with the Curt basket Steel is nice, but that thing is friggin heavy and awkward... It's somewhat difficult to get it hooked up with one person, takes a bit of coaxing. It's also surprisingly large So it can haul a huge amount of stuff. I was like a half inch shy of...

    Hauling wood

I'll have to keep an eye on that... Honestly this might be a harder sell to my wife that any of the other stuff I've got. She's a hardcore wood burner and is more likely to just not have a fire than not have a wood burning fire.

    Hauling wood

Dude I miss this. I had a quarter cord when I lived in AZ, but space is a premium in California, so no backyard to store wood anymore... Lemme ask you, my basket has a lot of upsides... The ability to carry a stupidly large amount and a pre-made flat surface when I park, but the fact it covers...

    Hauling wood

I was debating on those. I'm in California and fire bans are a constant thing out here, it would be nice to have some fire at night. I might look into the smaller one.

    Hauling wood

Ended up getting the Curt class three hitch https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CLMBE5A/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It was pretty cheap, install wasn't terrible and it's very solid. Haven't towed anything crazy yet, but I've put a cargo basket and a good amount of tongue weight on it so far...
