    New Midland MXT275 (GMRS Mobile)

That really is about the best you can expect for relatively flat terrain with little to no obstructions on any line-of-sight band due to the curvature of the earth itself becoming an obstruction. Good read here, if you're interested: http://www.hamradioschool.com/?p=1184

Trail runs near Lake Tahoe 7/4-7/6?

Just drove King's Canyon Road the other day by accident while wandering forest roads the other day, pretty nice drive. https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/2514-kings-canyon-road

    New Midland MXT275 (GMRS Mobile)

For the record, I have no issues with people personally using non type-accepted hardware on FRS/GMRS with a reasonable attempt to follow the intent of the rules... I'm not trying to be a license nazi. My issue is with Rugged Radios selling overpriced Baofeng junk and intentionally not informing...

    New Midland MXT275 (GMRS Mobile)

The licensing requirement is not that confusing, Rugged Radios is knowingly side-stepping the law in the interest of their bottom line. Their radios are not type-accepted for any of the services that they're pre-programmed for, including GMRS at the correct power levels or any of the other...

    MOAB

Cool @Anchor Mtn, maybe we can catch up if you come out 4/20-22. I’ll be tied up with Power Wagons in Moab during the kokopelli run, unfortunately!

    MOAB

Ha, again!? That's too bad. We just got in on Saturday, just in time for the insane torrential downpour and hail storm. :tearsofjoy: Feels good to be back though, this place is starting to feel like home. :grimacing:

    MOAB

Thought I'd bump this thread since I'm in Moab again this year, will be here until June if anyone is going to be in the area.

    New Midland MXT275 (GMRS Mobile)

Personally I would drill an NMO mount and probably go with one of the Laird Phantom stealth or beercan style antennas for GMRS: https://www.theantennafarm.com/catalog/antennas-191/mobile-antennas-192/380-512-mhz-uhf-196/phantom-disguise-uhf-antennas-218/

Las Vegas Overland Bound meet up

Following. I'm in Pahrump for two weeks, and then camping around Lake Mead for another two weeks or so before moving on to Zion area in early April. I'll try to join if you get something together. Also, I'm planning to spend a few nights in Death Valley this weekend if anyone is interested.

James Baroud Isothermic Kit review - An Overland Bound exclusive

Sounds about right, I can’t imagine a thin layer of foam being effective at all in those temps without some inside heat source. That Zodi looks like it would be way too much for such a small space though, the only model I see is 40k btu. I have a 30’ Travel Trailer that has a 30k btu and it...

    Airbags

@Cort, if you add Daystar Cradles your suspension travel should not be limited, and the Ultimates can be run at 0 psi so unloaded ride quality should also not be affected. I think I've got mine pretty well dialed in now, 20psi for towing, 5psi for general on-road, and 0-5psi for off-road...

Big Bend NP - Thanksgiving Weekend

Cool [emoji1309]. We ended up accelerating our schedule a bit (real bad w/ plans lol) and we're in Las Cruces now from an overnight but we'll be heading west over the next couple days across AZ to Southern CA. We'll be near Joshua Tree for all of December, planning a Mojave trip and DV from...

Big Bend NP - Thanksgiving Weekend

Change of plans, heading into the park for this weekend instead. Will be without service soon but if anyone happens to be out here this weekend, try me on 146.520/146.460 or the 146.820 repeater. We'll be south of the Chisos mostly, plan is River Road and Marsical Mine... for now.

    Airbags

Thanks @BigDogKona, I live in a 30' Airstream full-time, that's got a 850lb tongue weight. Plus I carry a lot of crap in the truck with a cap (200lbs), rtt (~170lbs), decked (200lbs), tools (~200lbs?), water, fuel, and a bunch of junk for the trailer so it's usually pretty heavy. I put the...

    Airbags

Mine bounces a bit too, I'm still experimenting, especially with WD hitch adjustments, but I've run from 5 to 70 psi (100 psi max bags) and there's still always some ill effect.

Big Bend NP - Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanks man, I'll check them out. I don't actually live in Texas, I travel full-time and I'm just currently in Texas for a few weeks.
