This is on the FSR formerly known as Harrison West, about 56km up. There is also another washout further up from this one, which of course I wasn't able to reach on this trip.
It should be as simple as making "donuts" of steel or aluminum to sit on top of thr struts and space them downward. Any competent machinist should be able to make them up in a matter of a couple hours given the specs. I'd hunt around for a metal shop that will make them for you cheap.

The Tucson has 4 wheel independent suspension, right? I'm guessing MacPherson struts on all 4 corners? Unless someone makes performance spring lifts/shocks for it, I'd say search around Ebay and see if you can find a cheap 2" strut tower spacer lift. Failing that, just find a machine shop and...
I recommend lifting it 2" and putting the biggest A/T or M/T tires you can stuff into the wheel wells without any rubbing. That lift with the bigger tires will give you the max ground clearance you can achieve without major modifications, will keep the costs lower and usually a 2" lift is safe...

Started polishing off the corrosion and painting my wheels. The spare is the guinea pig. Frustratingly, my rattle can ran out of gas way before it ran out of paint.

I'm playing with the idea of possibly importing a LHD 70 series Land Cruiser troopy from somewhere in europe, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience buying vehicles from overseas. If I do eventually buy one, this would be quite a ways in the future, but I wanted to do some...
Check the milspec ones someone installed - a few posts back in this thread.
As for me, I drove my fifth child, first son, home from the hospital in it yesterday :) Baby and mama both doing fine after emergency C-section. I guess he's a little adventurer and didn't want to take the usual way...
I was considering that, but the gap above the hinge is really wide, so I may just route it through there and over the upper window seal, as water ingress won't be an issue with the way it overlaps.
The bracket I whipped up:
The electrical ground to the chassis is rock solid. Tested and got a good connection from the end of the bracket to the tailgate latch on the opposite side of the car.
