I'm pretty happy with my XK. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I'd probably get a donor CRD WK and convert it...
I think I'm going to be pretty set once I finish a couple more upgrades, and get my trailer started.
I'm not against trying new things.
But in my years, I've really found that you tend to get what you pay for. Unless you're SURE about something that's cheeper, it's usually better to go with the product that's known to have quality.
Nobody wants a bad switch/relay to catch fire, or burn out...
The first step in figuring this out is going to be knowing what the draw is on those lights. Then you can determine what safety standard you like best, and then find the related chart.
The gauge changes based on the draw, and length of the run.
The rear diff has 12 bolts on the QD-II, the rest have 10 bolts.
There is a pretty good thread over on JeepForum about what to look for on the WK/XK platforms when considering buying. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/buying-wk-xk-read-1458434/
It was the RRO kit without springs + the leveling kit. So it's 2.25 in the rear and close to 2.75 in the front i think.
The tires are 265/70/17 BFG AT/KO2. I adore these tires.
If you're going to look at a WK/XK, I can't recommend the QD-II enough. It's worth the additional time searching...
Less respect than a Patriot owner... Drive a KL or a BU around in the dirt. :frowning:
My only "criteria" for it being a "real" Jeep is if it's been scratched :tearsofjoy:
The only people I pick on are friends, and I get it just as good as I give it.
Nothing other than going out and finding some snow.
I'm still waiting on bumpers (front and rear) from a company that I should have never gotten involved with. That's what happens when you don't do your research I guess.
I also had some larger $$ repairs that had to be done. Rear diff, and...

I have an App called "Maprika" on my phone. And I have my Garmin Rino 650t
Maprika:
1. What are the pros of your unit?
It allows me to download all of the common area paper maps for use offline. It makes for a great sanity check for my map reading skills
When you have a...
The KL has had it's fair share of recalls and TSB's put out on it.
It's funny, actually. There is on recall for Feb 18 and older, and a different one for Feb 18 and newer.
If you just want to wheel, Evans Creek has some pretty great trails. There's a little something for everyone. Though if you have a built rig, there's a lot.
Maybe, but I'll be on a pretty tight timetable (as far as overlanding goes anyway). The goal is to get south to north in 5-6 days. That's only around 100 miles a day, but there's a lot of things to see and do along the way!
Right on! I don't think I've responded to any missions that far north. A couple missions in King County over the last couple years, but that's it.
I'm in the 4x4 unit.
The next major trip on the horizon is in June.
I'll be doing the Washington BDR with a some friends and a couple rigs!
Still planning of course, but if anyone has any info about this route, I'd love to hear about it!
Don't be sorry for detailed posts. We've all felt the frustration of dealing what should be a nice afternoon project that goes sideways. (the sliders on my KL come to mind...)
The detailed posts are great, they really help explain what you did, and brings a sense of what it's actually going to...
