Thanks, it got a little cold the last night up on Mt Hood, but with the weather we've been having up here, I really couldn't have asked for better. Though, a *little* rain would have been nice.
I'm back.
It was 3 days, 2 nights.
First Day / night was in Gifford Pinchot NF.
Second day was over to Mt St Helens, and then down through Gifford Pinchot to Mt Hood for the night.
Third day was the return trip I-84 to I-5.
It was a good shakedown for the XK. There are things that I need...
From a Navigation (and comms) perspective, I really like my Garmin Rino T650.
From a communications perspective getting your HAM license is always a good idea. GMRS is a good system, being able to go up to 5w, and one license is good for everyone in the group, unlike HAM.
Looking forward to...
I just took my first trip with the KO2's. Their a little louder than I expected. But they're a great ride to be sure.
That's not to say that they're excessively loud. I didn't hear them on the freeway with the windows up, just cruising around with them down.
It does seem like they really...

Overland Bound and some new stripes...
Came across some classic cars on the side of the road that were on a road trip to Pebble Beach. They had to hang out from the side while working on the underside...
Installed the roof lights.
Xmitter Lo Pro Xtreme
x1 35" split 10 deg / 40 deg
x4 5" 40 deg (Front Corners and Sides)
x2 5" flood (Rear)
Unfortunately, I didn't remember get any close ups of the way I ran the wires from the underside before I put it back on the rig.
So, I really hate building relay systems. Seriously, it's just something I really can't stand.
The options out there for prefab type units seem to be very limited. I have one for my Warning lights/siren/loud speaker, but it was big, the switch panel is very specific, it's huge, and it fits...
I got the core of the electrical done today.
Relays systems wired up.
Switch panels mounted. I've had the "Damega" for a long time. It controls my warning lights. The Switch-Pro is fantastic, it's incredibly customizable, and can push all kinds of power. I haven't run it in the field yet...
I got some more work done on the on the drawers. I messed up somewhere, and it ended up a bit taller than I wanted. But I don't think it's too tall (my cooler still fits on top).
I'm still working through how I want to configure the drawers. I'm partially wondering if I can find a table that...
I've started looking at building up a trailer next year. Cooking space has always been one of my challenges when I'm out and about.
I'm going to have to remember this when I start working up the plans.
That's a great, and simple implementation.
I've been thinking that a roof tent (or 2) is on my list for next year. I'm on the same opinion as Mike, and I was going to put it on a trailer. (I have about 1/2 inch before I lose the ability to put the XK in the garage, and I don't like to take it apart.)
Question though. With 4 people on...
Right below the "Trail Rated" badge on the driver side. I may order a second Trail Rated badge, and a duplicate OB badge for the passenger side. But that's down the road.
I love my Jeeps!
Here are the two that live in my garage (when it's not full of Jeep project parts...)
My 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk. It's been a great little trail runner, light camping / exploration, and Search and Rescue rig.

Then there is...
Yeah, the dog in those pictures is Dale.
The Cherokee doesn't have a HEMI, it has a 3.2 liter Pentastar v6. It's a great daily driver, trail runner, and some overnight trips.
The HEMI is in the XK (Commander) that I'm working on building. It may see its first trip the first week in August if...
