New to the Area and to Overlanding

I haven't done any short trips in a while... Too damn cold. Theres a fairly well established group over at http://northwestoverland.com/ that does things in the area fairly regularly. With my work schedule the way it is, I probably won't be able to get out until at least April [emoji19]...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I pulled apart all my gear, inventoried it, made a list, and put... most of it back together.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I'm really curious to see what you do with the remote. It's close enough to the cost of my Switch-Pro that wonder if consistency and size would just keep me there, but the price different isn't zero...

What’s the difference between ‘4-wheel drive’ and ‘all-wheel drive?’

"Can you do that?" - Awesome! I've always liked Subaru. I fell in love with them when I lived in Okinawa. Granted, that was for entirely different reasons :innocent:

    Off The Grid 2016?

I know I've heard @administrator mention it, but I haven't seen anything around the approximate dates. I'm starting to look at my summer schedule, and I'd really like to make it this year, but I have no idea where I should be slotting it in. Is there any insight you can provide as to even a...

What’s the difference between ‘4-wheel drive’ and ‘all-wheel drive?’

That's one of the major factors as to why I have two of them... Combined with the fact that the KL is at a level of comfort that my old WK, and my current XK can't hope to match on the road. The "default" state with the Active Drive system is FWD, and engages power to the rear when you tell it...

What’s the difference between ‘4-wheel drive’ and ‘all-wheel drive?’

I'll volunteer both mine! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Search & Rescue

Roaming, are you with King County...? We go up there and work with them all the time. Pierce County SAR here! Edit: We already hat this conversation... DOH!

What’s the difference between ‘4-wheel drive’ and ‘all-wheel drive?’

Well, if you're going to go there. The obvious answer is Jeeps Quadra-Drive II of course! :sunglasses::tearsofjoy:

War Machine: The Silver 01 Jeep Wj

I really like the way that rack is done. Eventually I'd like to rip the Garvin off my roof and do something with a little more capacity, something that matches the lines a little better, and is a little more sturdy. I'm a sucker for a Jeep build

    72h Bag - Go/Deploy kit

It's likely common sense around here, considering the content of the forum. But I feel that it's worth mentioning... Anything cotton should be removed and replaced with non cotton alternatives. It holds oder, and it takes forever to dry. when it's wet, your better off being naked than...

    Search & Rescue

I volunteer for the local Search and Rescue 4x4 unit. To get a basic qualification, it's 2 days of classroom training and 2 days/2 nights of field training, CPR, and the FEMA 100 and 700 courses (FEMA courses are online, and free). After that, there are many supplementary qualifications with...

    2006 Jeep Commander (XK) Build

So, with all the pain that this part of the build has brought, there might just be light at the end of the tunnel!

    Downloadable bumper plans

After market options for both my rigs are a real nightmare to be sure. I do like the look of that bumper, and can't wait to see how it turns out. Even with the lack of options, I love my XK! I do wish I knew how to weld, and/or had a good relationship with a fab shop. Until then, I can't...

DIY Input needed for dog ramp

It's on my list... Right after I pay off my bumpers... Justification is key when it comes to my hobbies, ESPECIALLY this one. Recovery gear is safety gear!

DIY Input needed for dog ramp

I have a dog that's starting to have issues... I wonder if a MaxTrax will work if I flip it upside down.... Maybe an excuse to get a set!

What’s the difference between ‘4-wheel drive’ and ‘all-wheel drive?’

I'd call QT-I closer to AWD. The addition of Low Range with the QT-II lends me to give it the "4x4" title.

    I despise thieves...

Thieves make me feel ill. Literally. I've had my rigs broken in to, and have had things stolen. Insurance helps, but not enough :rage:
