Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I run 2 Grp 31M blue top Optima's and after a couple days in 80-85 degree weather and having the fridge set at -12 (10 degrees F), AND having 80 watts of solar panels trickle charging the batteries..... and it cut out after a couple days. Once I adjusted the temperature to only a few degrees...
Be careful using a propane heat source. I've used a buddy heater as well.... but know the risks (if you already know them I'll state the few I know anyway for the benefit of others) ....
It can deplete the oxygen
CO... carbon monoxide poisoning
My Buddy Heater has a trip sensor and a low...
I tried finding that information too... looks like it might not have that feature. My ARB does so I assumed the Engel would too.
If I were you I would get a battery saver... I'm not sure what brand or model would be best.... but a quick google search turned this one up...
While I recommend putting at least 1 deep cycle in the rig for now... the fridge should work fine unless you park for a couple days and expect it to keep things frozen.
If I remember correctly... the Engel also has a battery protection mode that shuts off the fridge before killing the battery.
I would say 20 minutes and it's good. Might still have some pegs to put in for the fly but it's up and mostly pegged down by then.
2 person job though. It can be done with 1 person but it's a bit simpler with 2... at least to get the big fly over the structure.
I always take my 12 ga and have a mixture of 00 buck and slugs. Plenty of black bears where I camp.
I have my young girls learning to shoot pistols.... starting them off with BB guns until they gain some upper body strength. My oldest turned 12 this year so I might get a basic 22 rifle to...
Evidently if you are asking for a specific membership number, then that creates a bit of a delay accommodating you... For instance, I'm still waiting patiently as well :sunglasses: for a specific number.
Maybe I should mention here that taking a trailer through trails like this up and over rocks can be hard on a trailer axle. I've had to replace mine. I beefed it up from the 3500 lb axle to a 6000lb one.
Granted I had a fair bit of weight on the trailer but I believe I was still originally...
I picked up a Stihl MS170 a year or so ago... it's the smallest saw I've ever used.... I used to use bigger saws. I figured since I only am going to use it camping and wheeling I don't need a big saw.
It tends to bog down when I work it hard. Shutting it off when it's hot is a sure-fire way...
Here are a few very boring driving videos to give you an idea of the trail and the scraping involved. Full disclosure in case anyone wants to head out there ;)
So I took my 12 yr old on a semi spur-of-the-moment trip out to the bush. We took the small tent for the 2 of us… but with her hand in a cast, my back being sore, and the forecast for rain the following day I decided that we would just sleep in the FJ. The temperature was going to get below...
