I always carry extra fuel but have never needed it for my own rig, however I have contributed to others several times :-/ I prefer not to keep fuel for longer then a single season so every winter I will empty any stored fuel.

I have really been a fan of the Dick Cepek Extreme Country tires. For an MT they are not too loud just slightly more buzz then KOs they replaced. 2 Ply relatively low weight for less rotational mass. Really surprised how well mannered they are on the pave as well.

The 1st thing that comes to mind is how do you mount it when your bumper is up against a rock, ledge, tree or another tricky spot that you may not have the clearance to attach an external winch decreasing your approach angle?

Highly depends on the task. I have a fair amount of tools but there are some jobs that I am not equipped for so I weigh the cost of tooling and the likely hood that I will need to use that rig again VS sending it to the pros. As some have mentioned we all have limits where it just makes better...
