    Subaru Outback thoughts/advice

It seems like an interesting platform. I haven't seen too many on the trail, but I'm interested to see what you all come up with.

Resolved Amazon Media Links not showing up

The below posts were split off from the Coffee Setup thread - Steve That image/link appears broken. Is it me, or is it my company's firewall?

    General Trip Planning

That's pretty much what I do, but I never know where to start. I guess start mapping out a tentative route, and then drill in with refinements?

    Propane Distribution

Thanks for the info. Given I'll be using propane for cooking as well, it looks like I'll want a 20lb tank. I'm not sure the trees really meet my own needs, as I was hoping for something a bit smaller. Anyone know if I could roll my own out of black-pipe? It's heavy, but given I'm overlanding...

    Grilling Options

You said the magic word... cookies! I'm going to do some googling, but would she be willing to share any recipes?

    New purchases for future adventures

I picked up the aqua-tainer myself. Looking forward to using it on my next trip!

    Coffee Set Ups

We usually go with the French Press when travelling. It really makes a great cup of Joe, but I get nervous carrying the glass. I've got my eye now on that Stanley...

    Propane Distribution

I like the idea of this, but I'm planning a couple of longer trips and worry 5lbs won't be enough. Up to a week, with stove, grill, and heater.

    Dream of Overlanding to Alaska.

I haven't done it, but it's definitely on my bucket list. It looks like an amazing place to visit!

    Any Fellow Michigander?

This looks like a great tentative schedule. When are you thinking for the initial meet up? I can swing Mt. Pleasant fairly easily... we should get it added to the calendar. Manistee sounds good for a trip - maybe we could combine it with a NW meetup?

    "Off the Grid" Fall 2017

I think we need to plan an event for somewhere near Lebanon, Kansas: Geographic_center_of_the_contiguous_United_States

    General Trip Planning

How do you plan for a trip to parts unknown? Maps are a great place to start, but what else do you use to determine what areas to explore, what's available, local rules and regulations, etc. Good advance planning makes for a positive experience, so how do you all do it?

What Trail Condition Do You Fear The Most?

And finally, off-camber scares me the most. I get nervous pretty quickly as the top starts to angle over...

What Trail Condition Do You Fear The Most?

My fingers are tingly... I would have such a white-knuckle grip... I'd have turned around long before getting that far!

What Trail Condition Do You Fear The Most?

My first ever accident was in a mall parking lot.... Can't stand those things!

    Propane Distribution

With the abundance of propane appliances for camping (stove, buddy heater, lantern, grills, tembo tusk, bug zappers, etc), does anyone have any tips/tricks for distributing fuel around a campsite? Is there an easy way to hook everything up, or do you carry multiple bottles?

    Sleeping Gear

Usually just a pad a sleeping bag. I'd like to try a hammock, but it seems like you need a decent amount of gear to keep warm in the colder months (here in Michigan, that could be anytime between November and April/May). I'm planning a trip north in April and am thinking I will acquire a buddy...

How do you use your pickup bed?

Are you thinking the cover should be on when the RTT is mounted? Or only for other times? Could something like this be an option: https://www.softopper.com/? Drawers might be a good solution, assuming you get them to go the full length of your bed. Maybe something custom, where you could specify...

    Most "Classic" Overland Rig?

I agree with the general consensus around Land Rover... but I think some credit is due to the old VW microbus, as they helped usher in more of the life-on-the-road feel.

I have one of those on my short list. Love seeing fellow Xterra posts! I'll have to get my own thread started...
