2006 Jeep Commander XK Overland Build

2

At the recent Overland Bound Off the Grid Rally we had more time to spend with @jdunk and his 2006 Jeep Commander XK Overland Build. The Commander did a billy-goat routine up the mountain, escorting a wide variety of vehicles. For a full list of stats see below and if you have more questions head on over to the forums build thread to ask away! Thanks to Josh!

I’m building it for 2 primary uses. Local Search and Rescue, and Overlanding.

I had to give up my WK about a year ago due to the absolutely HORRIBLE gas mileage I was getting, and all the driving that I have to do for work.

I replaced it with a ’14 Trailhawk as my daily driver, and mild trail car. (It impresses me all the time…)

Anyway, back to the reason for this tread… I picked up an ’06 HEMI QD-II with a fraction over 100k about a month ago.

Completed:
RR Lift Kit (Removed)
OME HD Springs with HD front Struts and Rancho Rear Adjustable.
Rocky Road 2.5 in. spacers (Rear)
Rocky Road Outfitters Upper Control Arms
Garvin Roof Rack
BFG T/A KO2 – 265/70R17 w/ 1.5in spacers
Amber Warning Lights
Electrical installed fuse box and electrical relays
VisionX LED
High Band Radio
3rd row replaced with storage [ Step 2Step 3 ]
Rear Bumper w/tire and Jerry can storage
Front bumper with 12k Winch and Rigid Dually’s
Pioneer SPH-DA120 (AppRadio4 w/Car Play)
WeatherTech Window Deflectors

For the immediate future:

Rigid LED (removed from my WK)

Here is what she looked like when I brought her home:

  1. Saw the YT video of this…great looking vehicle! Very interesting to me as I have an '06 WK with 5.7 Hemi and Quadra Drive II, as well. I have a project list that I have thought to be rather short, but now I see why. Rack; lift kit; front bar down the road and I should be good for what I need. I unknowingly bought a car several years ago that turns out has amazing capability right off the dealers lot!
