Rally Point Meetups are how overlanders in the same area go from names on a screen to the folks you turn to for advice, the crew you hit the trail with, and the people who show up when you need them.
Small, local, no big production required
A coffee shop on a Saturday morning. A brewery patio on a Thursday night. A parking lot with good people and nowhere to be. Recurring meetups usually start with four or five people and grow from there. You pick the spot, you set the date.
Four steps to your first meetup

Rally Point creation is included in every Overland Bound membership, along with Field Map and Crews.
Create your Rally Point
Name it, set the date, pick your spot on the map. Public or private, one-time or recurring.
Get the word out
Make it live and we’ll take it from there. Overland Bound pushes your Rally Point to overlanders in your area.
Show up
RSVPs, discussion, and updates all live inside your Rally Point. No group texts, no email threads. Everyone who’s coming is in one place.

Common questions
How much time does hosting actually take
For a typical monthly meetup: about ninety minutes of prep before the first one, mostly figuring out the venue and writing the invite. After that, around thirty minutes a month. Recurring hosts tell us it gets lighter. By the fourth one you are showing up, opening a thread, and pouring coffee.
Do I need to be an experienced overlander
No. Plenty of active Rally Points were started by people with one trip under their belt. A Rally Point meetup is not a guided trail run. It is a gathering of people who like the same thing. You can keep it simple and meet at a trailhead, a brewery, or a parking lot. No expertise is required.
What if nobody shows up to the first one
Sometimes the first one is small. That is normal, and the people who do show are usually the ones who will hit the trail with you later. Choose a low-key venue and treat the first one as a soft launch, not a mega gathering. We will continue to help by getting the word out.
Is there a cost to host
Creating and hosting Rally Points is available to annual Overland Bound members. Venue costs are yours to manage, which is why we suggest a coffee shop, brewery, donut shop, or park.
Am I obligated to keep a Rally Point going
No. Life happens. If you need to cancel or step away, you can close your Rally Point at any time. If it becomes recurring and you need to hand it off, reach out and let us know who will be taking the reins, or we will help find someone to take it over.
Are there restrictions on what kind of meetup I can host
Rally Point Meetups are meant to be casual, community-driven gatherings. Events that charge entry, sell products, or are hosted by a company are subject to approval. Reach out to us at info@overlandbound.com before you set one up.
Can my Rally Point be private or invite-only
Yes. Public, where anyone can RSVP, or private, limited to your Crew or a hand-picked list.
What about waivers and liability
Rally Point Meetups are planned and hosted independently by members. Overland Bound provides the planning and communication tools to organize them. For casual social meetups a waiver is not required. For formally organized trail runs or club events, we recommend consulting your own legal or insurance resources.
How is a Rally Point different from a Crew
A Crew is the group of people. A Rally Point is the event that group rallies around. Crews are persistent. Rally Points happen on a date. Many Rally Points grow into a Crew over time.
