My new to me tow vehicle came without a center console. There was plenty of space, and I definitely wanted to use as much as I could. At the same time, I had a stack of 50 caliber ammo can taking space in my garage.

Look at all that real estate!

Step one! Make a level playing field. I bought a Jotto Desk radio console floor plate. This was vehicle specific, and fit perfectly.

Bring on the cans! There was significant room between the seats.

Finally, I can’t forget to place my OB medallion in a good spot!

I really dig this console... a really cooo idea would be to make the Ammo Cans swappable... That way you can have several cans configured with different gear for different kinds of activities... I might steel this idea and build upon it for my interior build out.

I used the MTM ammo can trays to accomplish a similar thing with flexibility.

This is a great idea and they look awesome but won't those be really noisy when they're full of stuff? I can only imagine all the banging with every bump. Did you line them with anything?

They are bolted down, so I used a straight edge to align them first. They’re not noisy at all.

The locker in the back, on the other hand makes constant noise.

Oh yeah and an idea was born. I guess it’s time to scrap the phone holder idea

I was meaning when you put stuff in them, like change or other odds and ends that just show up. But man I bet that back locker really is loud fill it with some stuff it may quiet down a bit.

This is a great idea. Maybe you can throw in some extra 12v charge plugs and USB ports. And you've got to get some toggle switches in there as well.

The mtm trays keep things quiet. The locker is noisy mainly because of the various latches. I did put some playroom foam tiles on top which helps.

very cool
I'd turn the back 2 90 degrees if there is room

And there's room for a cushion for the dog to ride on too! I don't have as much space, but am thinking of a console made from a steel tool box since I have several extras.

That's super cool, I'd never have thought of an ammo can to be used in such a way. I really liked the radio and cup holder inserts too.

Missed this somehow. I absolutely did put some 12v and usb outlets in. When the car was de-milled, the Factory 125 amp feed to the cabin was cut. I’ve recently got that traced. It leads to a 50 amp feed under the dash near the radio, plus two more 50 amp feeds to the rear under the interior trim near the locker. I’ve not reactivated it yet, but it can definitely be useful.

I swiped the ammo can idea from a Jeep photo I saw. Of course those guys only have space for one can mounted lengthwise. Full size is fun!
