The OFFICIAL Trans NJ Trail Thread

Do you have a smartphone of sorts that can download Gaia? If so it can be loaded into that or you could unzip the file and load it into Google maps as well.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into it!

The OFFICIAL Trans NJ Trail Thread

It’s open, there may be a couple trees down in some sections and some sections may be closed for winter but there are winter routes.

You can get the gpx from backcountry discovery routes. Just google it. They’re free.

The OFFICIAL Trans NJ Trail Thread

I could entertain an extra vehicle to tag along. It’s really not that tough of a trail to warrant a second rig, all the off asphalt sections were smooth gravel roads. I was thinking about checking out the MABDR to see if I could incorporate some of those trails into the VTPAT for a reroute of...

I can send you the MABDR but I’m not releasing the VTPAT yet. I’ve only done from Maryland to Woodward in PA. I don’t want to release something that I haven’t 100% proofed out yet. Plus, the VTPAT is sooo easy. It’s like a scenic drive lol. Hold on, I have a video from when I ran it.

They are different but very close. See the over lay of the VTPAT and MABDR. The VTPAT is in red.

The OFFICIAL Trans NJ Trail Thread

Hey everyone, sorry for the hiatus. For some reason if I don’t visit the site regularly then I don’t get new notifications when people comment on the thread. It’s so weird. I haven’t had a chance to run any of the trail in a while. Life has gotten in the way a bit. Since covid, my work has...

You’re welcome! Winches do play a big part in moving down trees, also wrapping a strap around the tree and pulling it with the truck could help as well if you don’t have a winch. I’ve used axes, machetes, and the above before to move downed trees. The machete helps with the smaller branches if I...

Just so everyone knows, the wonderful Governor of NJ stated, as of last night at 8pm, for all NJ State Parks and Forest are closed. Don’t get caught in the parks and forest running this trail. You may face a fine for being in the park/forest.

It’s because it’s a zip file. To open it you will need to load it into a gps app like the one I mentioned in my original post.

Yes, they are all closed. Also some of the public facilities like restrooms and such are closed as well. I would say maybe by May or June you’ll be able to make it happen.

If you’re going to be on the CRF250L, you’ll definitely be able to push to Brendan T Byrne in one day as long as you’re up at dawn and ride till dusk. It’ll make for a very long day but it can be done. In the 4x4, I’ve made it from high point to the Route 70/Route 539 Wawa (Whiting NJ) in about...

Cancelled PCE Trail Ride to Pinelands Brewing Co.

I hate to be the party pooper but I’m canceling the event until this is all over with. Sorry everyone.

Cancelled PCE Trail Ride to Pinelands Brewing Co.

The route is not mapped or recorded. I basically have it saved mentally (I know the pines like the back of my hand). We could minimize exposure no problem, just keep a distance of 6ft when talking outside of our rigs. I’m going to keep the event open until the 26th. I will reassess everything...
