We own a Crosstrek, not the hybrid because they were only a few mpg difference and a big price difference. We love ours and there is a ton of room in it both with the seats up and laid flat. There is a decent aftermarket forming with them now and prices aren't to bad. I am constantly surprised...
I use MVUMs along with Gaia when I head on trails. Each year in South Dakota, the MVUMs are updated so they are very accurate about trail openings and closings as well as hunting and restrictions.
The forest service does the same here in South Dakota so the trails can regrow. They remove them for a few years and then bring back a few that were dormant. Also they remove trails if they find endangered plants/animals near them. We lost a decent section of trails last year due to an...
I live in Rapid City. Highly recommend Iron Mountain Road instead of needles highway. There are a ton of trails out here in the hills and if you plan on running any of them, you will need a permit from the ranger stations. Let me know if you need any other ideas or help since you'll be in my...
Nice start to you h3. I was thinking about building a similar style platform for mine. Looking forward to see what you have planned next. There are a few of us h3 owners on here to get ideas from.
I used a set of those once and they amazed me with how well they performed. Hiked up Mount Lafayette and the Franconian Trail in ice and snow. Never slid or lost traction.
I like my steel skids and they have saved my sensitive areas on numerous occasions where aluminum would have been destroyed. Steel does add weight, but if you high center on aluminum, it might bend and still cause damage, where as steel has a better armor. If your worried about weight, then look...
Could always tie a grocery bag over it if you don't want to turn the top. Just don't forget to take it off when you leave! I have never had an issue by turning the top of mine though.
You only get $15k if you had the frame replaced before the settlement as reimbursement since owners paid out of pocket. Otherwise you just get a new frame and that's it...My brother in law just went through this and they only gave him the option of getting the frame replaced and that's it.
I second checking the spark plugs. Any moisture can cause faulty spark which leads to rough idle and misfire. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago because water got under my coil pack. I recommend using dielectric grease on all spark plugs, etc to deter water from getting in.
cliff bars are my go to on long travels. They are not very distracting which is why I like them. If I'm resting in the passenger seat then I'll eat trail mix and messy foods lol
Have you checked your passenger tail light? The running light will still work but the turn signal and brake light don't activate if it is the body control module. This is a symptom as well as the faulty pass lock.
Did you get any water over the hood during the crossings? Was it idling rough at any point or the check engine light come on? I got water under my coil packs which was causing spark failure.
I had the pass lock failure on mine a few years ago. Water from the sunroof wasn't draining properly...
I would choose a diesel because of the reliability and better fuel efficiency. They may run a little weaker on the horsepower side compared to gas burning engines, but that's what turbos and supercharges are for!
I get a lot of people asking how deep I can go in water since I have the snorkel. My vehicle gets a lot of attention here in South Dakota because nobody has a built hummer here. They drive primarily jeeps so it's very unique.
Performed a much needed upgrade to my transfer case. Installed a metal shift fork to replace the plastic one which breaks and prevents the vehicle to engage 4hi lock and 4lo lock. Filled it up with royal purple atf fluid since I'm a big fan of their products. Next on the list is upgrading my...
