The Tacoma has good approach and departure angles so I'd go for smaller lift and taller tires (255/85/16). The smaller lift will provide better droop travel for better offroad traction and the taller tires will provide more traction AND more ground clearance. You're off to a great start!
I changed the rear diff fluid today. I assumed it would look terrible after reading some of the reports from others who have done it with even less miles. At 37k it didn't look too bad. The first second worth of fluid pouring out looked darkish but it quickly turned a dull yellowish color. The...
And.... went snow wheeling afterwards. :)
Followed my buddy around in his Jeep. He dared me to climb up this steep snow covered trail and after initially struggling in the begining I used more right boot! Unfortunately he didn't video it. :)
The snow wasn't very deep but the constant rain and...
I finally "fabbed" up a fix for the lower mount on my DV8 steel bumper. The body lift caused the bolt holes to not line up with the frame. It's a pretty simple fix but I've been waiting on a friend to do some welding for me. I broke down and bought a piece of 13/16"x3"x25" flat steel to bridge...

I'v done a few "rescue" mission recoveries lately and I was reminded of this thread. Before I had a winch I wouldn't be as eager to drive out to rescue folks because it would entail long hours using crude devices breaking all sorts of safety protocol. The winch makes it much easier and a fair...
Welcome! Just another reason we own a 4wd. Jeni got a little worried when we hit the uphill and unplowed connector road and got a little, err a lot, sideways navigating it. LOL
Went for a drive a few miles up the hill to check out the snow and a neighborhood neither of us had seen. Took the dog and the new adventure kitty.
Ellie LOVES the snow
Zoe doesn't.... she immediately climbed up my pant leg to get out the cold white stuff.
I'd go with the KO2 then. It's a great tire, especially for SoCal. Or give the Kenda Klever RT a try. It's a hybrid tire like the Nitto Ridge Grappler and Patagonia. It's priced well and I haven't read anything bad about them. I really want to try their 35x10.5x17. :smilingimp:
They show a...
I just re-read that you are on a budget. I'ddefinitely look at the Milestar Patagonia and see if they have a size that worjs for you. They are way less expensive than the other tires (except the SL Wildpeak) yet still a quality tire. Watch some Lite Brite videos and see how hard they abuse the...
The KO2 has a 3ply sidewall which is a lot tougher than the 2ply sidewall on the SL Wildpeak. The 10ply carcass is also stronger than the 4ply on the Wildpeak.
I prefer the LT Wildpeak over the KO2 in all respects but I believe the KO2 is a little more puncture resistant on the sidewalls. You...
