What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I'm not sure why I find myself in these situations but I'm happy to be there to lend a hand.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I went out to check on the recent snow level just up the hill. On the way back down I came across a Subaru with bald tires that had slid off the road just enough she couldn't get out of the "ditch". This was on a curvy section of hwy and it was pretty slippery so I quickly broke oit the tow...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

The truck sits too high and I can't lower it via the coilover. The spring rate is just too high until I get a full steel bumper. You can't cut or heat coils on a coilover setup like you could on old school setups where the springs and shocks are separate. Taken during install before I removed...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Because Accutune didn't offer to swap out my springs for lower rate coils and because I'm refuse to spend $200 on a new set....... Here's about 100lbs+ worth of steel plates bolted to the "inside" of my front skid to weigh the front down. I ran out of nylon lock nuts so used wall anchors...

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I believe the Apex is made by Warn. I could be wrong but I read that somewhere.

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

I've only had my Smittybilt X20 10k for a handful of months but I've used it 4 times already. It worked perfectly to pull various vehicles uphill and out of jams. It's very slow going, however, which makes me wish I could have gone with a larger unit but my bumper won't accept a larger case. The...

    Warn, Smittybilt or something else?

And not to be confused with the Badlands Apex 12k winch which is much more expensive at $799. Looks like a nice unit.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Someday I'll get another winch with a rear hitch cradle and make a connector like that. Nice work.

Aimless Wandering in Kansas's Flint Hills

It's cool to see people making an effort to explore even in a state with such little public land.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

He was lucky enough to have cell reception in an area not known for good reception. He was able to post to a regional off-road recovery group page on Facebook to ask for assistance. It's a good idea to seek out and join a group like this and lend a hand when able. He was also able to text me for...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Thanks buddy! He's a good kid. He's slowly building the Jeep up as he learns what is useful instead of for show. A winch just made it to 2nd place on his list, right after new axles. lol

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Used it to recover my friend's Jeep. He broke a rear axle on a steep slope and had to tie off on a large boulder until help came. It took me about 2hrs to get out to him. Winching on such a steep slope is sketch so we used a tow strap between my truck and a large tree just in case. The plan was...

    2017 GMC Sierra overland build

I dig it! I'd recommend a winch or at least tow straps. Combined with a chainsaw you'll be able to clear downed trees from across the trails.
