Saturday, January 27th at 3pm at The Casual Pint in Franklin. We're just meeting up to discuss the areas we want to explore this year and maybe even come up with some tentative dates for those!
If you don't really crawl rocks or obstacles that would lift a tire then the TruTracs would be a great choice. If you overland and wheel then an Aussie in the front axle could be good (that's what I have), but only if you don't need 4wd for your regular winter commutes.
Weird... It is displaying for me on my screen. It could be because you are looking from a mobile device? Let me see if there's anything else I can do. If not I can PM it to anyone interested.
In preparation for our January 27th meeting I have prepared a spreadsheet with some of the different destinations mentioned in this thread. I will have this at the meeting and I can update accordingly as we plan. Feel free to comment on the spreadsheet or follow up here about more destinations...
I'd love to go to Windrock! There are a ton of Jeep Badge of Honor trails around... 3 of which are at Windrock! There's also one near Chattanooga, 3 at Stoney Lonesome in Alabama, and 3 in Arkan sas. I'm trying to collect most of the bigger challenging ones.
When I re-geared my axles I installed a TruTrac in the rear and an Aussie lunchbox locker in the front. I have 31" tires and a 2" lift and I can go rock crawling and get to some pretty impressive places with this setup. I would recommend looking at a similar setup UNLESS you encounter snow...
With some brute force I got that last bolt in on the bumper! It looks great and is ready for some towing and recoveries [emoji4]
I would definitely be open to a Windrock trip next year!
Installed the bumper today! Unfortunately we only got 5 of the 6 bolts in though because it was getting dark and cold and the wife was getting hungry hahaha. I may attempt to do it on my own, but I may need some local assistance and strength to coerce that one last bolt in.
Shoot... Just checked online and it looks like a permit is required to drive around Cheatham... or am I reading that right? It looks like it's required for ORV use, but we are going to be in street vehicles. What do you think?
Interesting... Sounds like we need to explore that! Since its supposed to rain let's wait until next weekend or between Christmas and New Year's. Which would work better for everyone? I'm off work the week between Christmas and New Year's so I can go any day!
It looks like there are some! Could be cool but I have never been there before so I can't speak from experience.
Do you know what's in there to explore? Have you ever been?
I was looking on Google and found the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area just west of Nashville. Has anyone explored there before? I was thinking of heading there on Sunday if anyone else is interested. I know it's supposed to rain but a little mud never hurt anyone.
Thanks - I bought some step bits off of Amazon and the kit comes with a nice little center punch. I should be able to do this myself, the real determining factor will be if my drill has enough juice. I'll be sure to upload some pictures if I get it installed.
