    Inflatable boats/boats

I have a ton of experience in sea kayaks and I love them, but I need the range afforded by a motor.

    Inflatable boats/boats

I know this is an old thread, but I'm strongly considering buying a 4 person inflatable raft with a rigid transom and floor and outfitting it with a 6 hp 2 stroke motor for extending my exploration capabilities. I have a major expedition planned for august/september of this year, and a boat is...

    Dang, son, you stuck! lol

    Hope this wasn’t a member

Definitely possible that in that barren landscape, someone who doesn't see the sign or isn't pre-informed would have a hard time seeing any harm to camping out there. Best response is to try educating them first.

    OB Approved Members Spotted Thread

Now I can't be certain and unfortunately I couldn't get a picture, but I'm fairly certain my recce eye spotted a member badge on the left front quarter panel of a sweet looking silver Mitsubishi Pajero with some fancy wire-esque dusty gold wheels headed southbound in the border lineup into...

    Rav4

Sweet build - I have a soft spot for tiny 4wd's. Here's mine: 1999 Honda CR-V. I've done a bunch of work since I took this pic too, but lots more to do. Keep exploring; tiny rigs unite! :D

Camping in the vehicle at Windy Knob Loop Viewpoint. 500m from the US/Canada border north of the Cascades National Park. Second photo shows Canada Border Peak in the opening in the forest in the middle of the pic.

THE ULTIMATE BASE CAMP KITCHEN SETUP!! Cheap too.

When I was in the military, the cookies in their flying kitchen were our favourite people. We were always very happy when the flying kitchen got deployed :D

Looking for a cast iron pan with folding handle

No, because I figure they charge an arm and a leg for stuff, but maybe I'll have a look. $20 or less is about what I'd want to pay. The one from Walmart is $15 canuck bucks, I think.

Looking for a cast iron pan with folding handle

They have non-stick folding square pans with griddle bottoms at Walmart, but I'd love to find a smooth bottom one somewhere other than the apparently garbage quality Coleman ones. All the reviews on those say the non-stick coating can't handle the heat and peels off on the first use. In a...

Land Use - Leave It Better Than You Found It

I use an old alice pack as a "poor man's trasharoo," and I always pack out tons of garbage left by idiots. How sad is it that I'm considering buying a trasharoo for more capacity to carry other people's trash because I often run out of room?

    Overland Communication Overview

GMRS requires no license in Canada, but the restrictions on power and the specifications for the equipment are different than in the US, so technically you can't use a US high power GMRS unit with a separate antenna in Canada, but realistically nobody is going to know or care if you do, so I...

The official OTO "Ozark Trail Overland" gear thread!

I had a similar idea using extendable paiting poles. Thanks for the awesome field report! It's giving me yet more ideas...hehe.

    Coffee Set Ups

Good tutorial. I personally recommend stirring the grounds after pouring the kettle so as to ensure a strong brew.

    Overland Communication Overview

CB has no licensing requirements of any sort in North America. GMRS varies between Canada and the US, Ham requires licenses in both countries, not sure if a license in one allows you to operate in the other as a visitor.
