Hard to limit it to only 5 things, to be honest!
#1 It only cost me $1800 +500ish in A/T tires.
#2 It's extremely reliable
#3 It's economical
#4 It's taken me everywhere I've wanted to go and continually impresses me with its capability
#5 It's an amazingly well thought out vehicle in every respect
I really like his channel as well. He's extremely enthusiastic and positive, keeps it kidsafe, and he has some awesome adventures. He was a Corpsman in the Marines, so he's a good guy to have along in case things go pear shaped, too! lol
Massive fundamental issues. Won't load properly at all on Firefox, major functionality issues on Google Chrome, ie. routes not saving, tracks not saving from mobile, unable to save waypoints, data loss, etc. etc. A lot of serious issues that make me run from the idea of paying a dime for the...
Oh! Another potential route I was going to suggest, and one which is very historical as well is the old Douglas Road, known as West Harrison FSR for a time. It shows up part of the way as Morris Valley Rd on google maps. It runs along the west side of Harrison Lake, and can take you all the way...
Thanks :D It was pretty fun. I love discovering more of the mountain back country around here. I'm kind of kicking myself a little bit for not trying to the water crossing, but it's one of the basic foundational rules of off roading not to go solo when things get dicey, so really it was probably...
All right then. I would suggest driving on HWY 1 up the Fraser valley to Chilliwack. There are a ton of old FSR's up in there, as well as two gorgeous lakes, if you don't mind a side trip. Then if you go on to Hope, you can visit the Othello Tunnels, which is an absolutely spectacular hike...
Did some explorin' up one of the FSR's near my place. The map said the bridge was washed out and there's no access beyond, but for whatever reason I decided to just go see for myself anyways. Glad I did because I had a grand time and discovered some neat stuff:
Apparently there was a bridge...
I suppose it depends on how direct a route you want and what sort of attractions you want to see. Vancouver is a beautiful city with lots of interesting things to do and see, but if you're interested more in wild, outdoor, natural type stuff, you're maybe better off going east through the fraser...
That's a tough one. At the moment, I would love to do Haida Gwaii, The Whipsaw Trail, Tuktyuktuk (arctic circle) and an overlanding tour of Newfoundland. Possibly Black Bear Pass as well. I'm sure more destinations will come to me as time goes on.
Fixed a scratch on my wheel and finally located my transmission breather - way up on top. It's already so high, I may not even need to extend it, but I might just do it anyway.
I didn't mean to say it was wider than the camp chef, just that I personally find it a little bit wide. I agree it's very slim vertically, though, which I really like.
Exact same stove I have. Bought it for $20 off of craigslist almost brand new. Works like a charm. The only minor down side I think is that it's a little on the wide side, but that can be a blessing sometimes too, if you happen to need to use a huge pot.
