I came across this amazing route and the story of a group of Land Rover lads who attempted it in 2009. In my research on the subject, I stumbled upon the video documenting the expedition. It's a pretty neat watch despite the old grainy video and messed up sound in places, especially for Landy...
Lol welcome to life in Northern BC. It can be in the high 20's Celsius in the day in spring and be very close to freezing at night. I actually had taken off my fleece in that photo because it was too hot.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about, 4 wheel independent suspension. I believe that's how they refer to it in the Honda literature.
Honda was one of the pioneers of its use. I don't often see it on big SUV'S like the Armada. Almost always IFS with a solid rear.
Nice! My adventure buddy who has a 2015 Taco uses that exact compressor. He's had good service from it, so should serve very well.
My advice is to grab yourself an air-down tool as well. I went for a long time without one and dang was I impressed when I finally bought one. 4wd Parts in langley...
Looking sick! I didn't realize the new Armada/Patrol was 4WIS, same as my CR-V. IMHO, Armada's should come like that from the factory!
Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this bad boy.
I'm pretty sure that regional travel restriction ended on May Long Weekend.
Even if it didn't, it's unconstitutional BS with zero scientific basis or justification and should therefore be ignored in any case.
I'm almost dead center of the province, near Smithers. We moved here last October 31st, but I used to live in the LMD, and I grew up in North Van. When I first got the CR-V, I was living in Chilliwack, so I know a lot of the trails around there, East and West Harrison, and Fraser Canyon.
In skimming over this thread, I realized that I neglected to mention and show one of the most critical mods I've made to the CR-V!
Namely, two 10,000lb rated recovery hooks bolted into the rear "frame rails" of the unibody:
These are bolted into the holes where a hitch receiver would be...
Awesome! Welcome to CR-V Nation! :D I'm honored and thrilled I could be an inspiration to anyone with my rusty old Honda lol
In all honesty, I think that just as I did, you'll find yourself falling more in love with the old V as you take it out on adventures. It will surprise you at how capable...
I'm trying to remember, but I feel like I just cut the top hat mounting bolts a bit shorter on mine. I had the 2" kit from HRG and I didn't have to mess with the strut springs or top hats at all.
Yes, you are correct, the bottom of the strut where it plugs into the collar on the fork that bolts...
I can get them pretty close to flat, maybe not quite all the way, although I had some junk in the car that was maybe interfering. In any case, it's flat enough that I could for sure sleep in it in a pinch.
Having said that, I considered the option of sleeping in the car early on and looked at...
If you aren't getting axle wobble, you don't need the engine drop spacers, no worries on that.
Glad I could be of assistance :D Being an RD1 CR-V enthusiast can be a lonely thing at times lol
The CB radio I installed had a PA function, so when I found a cheap loudspeaker on Craigslist, I...
I
I hate to tell you this, but there's no need to mess with the top hats at all other than just bolting on the spacers when you buy the whole strut assembly. In the end, it all worked out though, and it looks awesome! I think you'll find that the new struts and the extra 2" makes a world of...
Drove it way up a nearby mountain with my neighbor and got it proper stuck in some nasty slushy "corn snow" that was still hanging about. Had to dig for around an hour, but like civilized chaps, we had a break for lunch mid way through, then another 30 minutes or so of digging got it out...
