Disclaimer: this is not legal advice, use at your own risk. I believe that legally speaking, if you can find where the original road ran, you can do whatever to clear it up as far as cutting vegetation away. I heard that so long as you aren't doing any road bed engineering type stuff, you don't...
Hey, I was just looking around for OB members in this area, and here you are! I live in Telkwa, BC, and my interest in exploring off road is always high. Time is definitely a limited commodity for me, but definitely keep me posted.
One place I strongly want to visit is Dorreen, so that's a...
If I still lived in Chilliwack, I would have been all over this. I moved to Telkwa in October, so now I'm pretty far north. Glad to see more activity on Canada west, though. There is a fellow who lives in Langley City who has a wicked Taco. I don't have his OB number, but hopefully he sees the...
Update on my SV overlander, for any who may not have seen it yet:
And, where I took it yesterday to work in my bush office with a view. Sometimes I really love living in the information age:
This was tea time. No, the cans by the fire are not mine, and yes I took them out of the bush anyway...
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it :D I love my CR-V; definitely one of my favourite vehicles I've ever owned.
Here's how it looks currently. Getting new tires on the 17th that will give it another inch or so of lift.
Overview of the engine, showing my loudspeaker on the left:
Driver side...
I forgot to answer your question about where it is, sorry. It's on top of the transmission housing more or less immediately below the lower rad hose, toward the front side. It's a little hose barb with a black rubber cap on it.
It's actually in a decent place from the factory, pretty high off...
I'll try and take some pics tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be good. It's actually pretty easy to do the mod, you just have to take out the air box on the passenger side, and the driver side mount is easily accessible. The trick with the engine mount bolts is they are torqued insanely...
Minor Update:
Extended my tranny breather and routed it into the side of my air box, as well as added engine drop spacers to the engine mounts, which almost completely resolved my axle wobble issue. It's barely noticeable at 100+kph now, which is much better than it was before. I'm happy with it.
Very interesting. As far as hammock tents go, assuming it's good quality, this one is probably tops. I haven't seen anyone using a hammock tent in my part of the world, so I haven't had a chance to ask anyone first hand about them. They seem to be uber comfy, by the look of them.
The big...
Mine looks way worse than that lol Some guys relocate the entire exhaust routing, because it really hangs lower than it needs to. They generally tuck it up much further against the floorboards, as there's a fair bit of room to do so if you change up the pipes.
I may end up re-doing my exhaust...
Awesome! :D Will be interesting to see how they work out with the 2" lift. I'm probably going to try and get to putting my engine drop spacers on sometime soon. The vehicle will be out of comission while I'm working on them, so I have to time it right somewhat.
A friend of mine gave me a nice...
Thanks! :D I see you scored some K02's! Very nice. What size are they? Also, highly recommend getting a matching 5th tire if you can. Ask me how I know. Lol
Well, Eastvanguy inspired me, and this is the result, fabbed up from scrap lumber I got for free from the dump, screws I had on hand, a 4" aluminum angle I had lying around for years and years, and a piece of outdoor carpet we had kicking around:
Update:
With limb lifters installed, doing a little water crossing on the way to Indian Arm:
I think this is pre-lift. I will have to snap a pic of it with the lift and show the stance. It's not a huge difference, but I will say that I believe 1.75-2" is the absolute optimum for this vehicle...
An option I haven't seen mentioned yet, which I think may be the best budget option, is the ozark trail high back mesh hard arm chair:

I paid something like $25CAD for mine. It functions similarly to a...
People crapping, not burying it, and spreading their TP all over creation like some horrid party streamers from hell really gets me too. How hard is it to dig a hole to poop in, seriously!?
One thing that helps is having associations that take action on these issues. Here in BC we have the 4wd Association of BC, who has a lot of members (including me) and are involved in massive cleanups, education, awareness and lobbying.
4wdABC has had some huge success in advocating for public...
Took all 5 kiddos on a little explore in the backcountry near our home and ended up finding someone's lost license plate as well as an epic hidden away camp/outdoor office spot.
I work from home doing database end user support, and I can work anywhere there is cell signal by tethering the...
