Overlanding in a small economy car

Awesome. Looks like a perfect spot to pull out the picnic table from the back and enjoy a bit of lunch! :D

Overlanding in a small economy car

Yep, 1999 Honda CR-V, the first generation. Fun fact, Land Rover had a hand in the design process, as Honda and Land Rover were partners at the time. Mine has a 2" lift and is running 235/75/15's. The roof rack is my own design and build from extruded aluminum, the wind faring is also my build...

Overlanding in a small economy car

Let's get this thread back on track. Did someone say compact overlander?

    Overland Hound

    Your Go To Jack

Wobbly sketcheroo scissor jack my car came with! j/k, I chucked that pile of crap. I use a 12 ton multi directional bottle jack, similar to the one Mike W pictured.

    Wisdom from the River

Hmm something to think about. That's not impossibly expensive.

    Wisdom from the River

I just looked up their 3hp model. That would be perfect for me. What's the MSRP on something like that, though? I bet it's too rich for my blood.

    Wisdom from the River

I've been considering switching to an electric motor for my little inflatable boat, since the gas motor I have doesn't push the boat much faster than an electric would, and the carburetor is very temperamental and doesn't respond well to riding on the roof for longish periods, plus it's an old...

Let's see those rigs in action

Awesome! I love seeing all those compact 4x4's. Small is beautiful :D One thing Europe has in spades that we lack in NA is awesome ancient ruins like that stone house. Very cool.

    Northern Wanderings

Hello Overland Bound! I wanted to share my trip from late summer of 2021 with you all. I did a 5 day trip in 2019 to some ghost towns here in Northern BC, and having been more or less prevented from doing a major trip in 2020 due to Covid and other issues, I was determined to get one done in...

    SVO ....Small Vehicle Overlanding

That thing probably hauled @$$. Nothing like an itty bitty car with a bucket o' horse powers! I hope the new ones still have the crisp, well defined shifts of the old ones. I always loved the feel of the manual transmission in the civic, but recently I had to drive a loaner car, a newish Ford...

    SVO ....Small Vehicle Overlanding

Saweet! If it's anything like the new civic type-R, you're in for a treat. Be sure to post pics in the Member Rides thread! :D

Let's see those rigs in action

That's interesting. That's a trick they borrowed from the RD1 CR-V - it has an extra low first gear compared to the Civic it shares a platform with.

Let's see those rigs in action

Well now that's interesting. I'm surprised and pleased to hear it!

Loving all the Honda representation here! How did the new Passport do?

    Bigfoot

Amen to that. I feel much more at ease deep in the woods far from any other human being than I do in downtown Vancouver or any other city.

    Bigfoot

I'm glad that bears are not something that scares me. My poor nephew is terrified of them to the point that hearing one bellowing in the distance on my last expedition was enough to nearly cause a panic attack. Don't get me wrong, I respect the power of bears and I am extremely careful in bear...

Dude, that's nuts. I'm currently sitting way out bush having my morning coffee, and I'm glad I deliberately avoided reading your post till now lol
