2007 Honda Pilot Off Road Build

As a matter of fact, I have the 2" HRG kit too. I ended up doing a 1/4 inch engine drop because the front axles were complaining, but not everyone has that issue with the 2" lift. I'm currently running 235/75/15 all terrain tires, and I feel like it's the optimal setup for the CR-V.

2007 Honda Pilot Off Road Build

Some gorgeous scenery up in Colorado. Reminds me of a lot of places in BC. I would love to wheel with someone running a first gen Pilot, because it would be very interesting to compare to my CR-V, which was very much the predecessor of the Pilot. Keep adventuring!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I like this setup. Looks very cosy!

That will likely solve your problem, I would say. Even if it keeps wearing, if it ever gets through the loom, you can just replace it and the cable should be safe and sound. Nice!

Best to remedy that ASAP. Otherwise, Murphy is going to show up in the worst possible place at the worst possible time to surprise you.

    Camp Photos!

Nice! I was looking at something similar. There are a ton of variations on the theme available on Amazon. It's a matter of finding the best price, I think. I can't seem to get the link to work, unfortunately :(

How do you like that canopy? I was seriously looking at a very similar one from Amazon. My latest expedition convinced me that my 10x10 pop up canopy is just way too dang heavy and bulky for overlanding.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Thank you, kindly! It was great to get out for a little drive. Also, I was greatly relieved that the battery seems to be none the worse for wear, as it's an almost brand new AGM. I really wasn't looking forward to replacing it.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Jump started it because I accidentally left the CB radio just barely in the on position, and sometime during my three weeks in hospital, the battery went flat as a pancake lol It started up first try and I drove around for about an hour and a half, so hopefully all good now.

    Honda Element?

I can address this to a certain extent from personal experience, because I own an RD1 CR-V, and the RT4wd in the element is nearly identical, but better in several respects. Just the upgraded version. In fact, I plan to drop in the rear diff unit from an Element as an upgrade to my CR-V when I...

    Wisdom from the River

Those dry sacks are perfect for making bear caches when in bear country, which for me is almost anywhere I could go adventuring. The rolled handle helps reduce the smell signature and gives a spot to tie the line for stringing it up.

    Something different. Let’s talk music.

Hip hop/rap is probably the one type of "music" I absolutely cannot tolerate. I can manage to enjoy just about anything else. Rap? No. To each his own, though, of course.

    Something different. Let’s talk music.

Mostly my playlist when off on adventures tends to be traditional Irish and Scottish tunes a collection of sea shanties and other maritime music, and golden oldies, although my taste in music is very eclectic and there are even things like Andrea Bocceli thrown in now and then. One band I...

    Why #vanlife Sucks

I've been to LA. It was a horrible place, especially with regard to driving and parking. You couldn't pay me enough to live in a van in LA. I agree with you as well, isn't the whole point of "vanlife" to be totally free to drive around and visit new and interesting places? Why on earth would...

    Honda TrailSport - Offroad

Unfortunately it's a trim level and not a new vehicle, and currently I don't think they have all that much to build on. It's hard to say though. I can tell you that people often underestimate what my RD1 CR-V can do, but then again, it hails from Honda's golden age, and Land Rover had a hand in...

Severe Over-Land "Trail Rash", do you say; "oh no", or "who cares"?

My answer is: because that's what it was built for. If you're never taking it off road, you wasted your money.

Dispersed Camping in BC and Canada in general?

Ahh, I missed that, I thought you were going this summer!

Dispersed Camping in BC and Canada in general?

Any updates? How did this trip go? I was on my expedition 1-4 Sept and I was thinking of you as I was out there :)
