2way radio- I have a BTECH UV50X2 mounted overhead between the visors.
Cell phone-I have a RAM mount screwed to the dash that holds my phone and i use it as my entertainment system, and daily navigation device. I have the factory tape deck in my 95 XJ and run a Bluetooth cassette tape in it to...
I've used my corded 115volt saw to cut plenty of stuff when traveling. Seems we mostly use it for cutting firewood in camp but we've used it to cut some fairly thick stuff to clear a trail as well. Not very often but to me not carrying gas is worth bringing the electric over the gas saw. As...
Texas kinda sucks for "overlanding" and camping. We've got very little public lands and only a faction of that tiny bit is vehicle accessible. Most are restricted to foot, bike, hoof travel. In Texas itself Big Bend is my favorite. I spend a lot of time in Arkansas because being in North...
I daily carry air source is a Viair 88P. Works great for my samller stock sized tires. When I go out on trips I'll sometimes throw my 5lb CO2 tank in the back that I refill from my 20lb CO2 tank I keep in the garage for air around the property away from my compressor. On the trail the little...
Right now I carry a WORX 10 inch electric chain saw (corded not battery powered) and I run it off of my inverter. I would like to move to a 40V li-ion unit. I've got a bunch of Black and Decker 20V Max tools and they do sell a saw that runs on them but it seems like the 40 volt units offer...
That antenna will catch everything in your path. I had an SSB5 rip the NMO mount out when a small limb went through the phasing coil and got snagged. Broke out my backup mag mount for the rest of the day with a 1/4wave.
Keep in mind "privacy" codes arent. Anyone not running CTCSS or DCS codes...
I do love me some CO2 extinguishers but fires have a tendency to reignite when using them especially class A or C fires. When the CO2 dissipates and O2 comes back in they light back off. They made us extinguish Class A fires with CO2 extinguishers in the FIre Academy. Took a while :tearsofjoy...
I carry baby wipes. They are much more space efficient and take up a lot less space overall than TP. It takes far less baby wipes than TP to get my hairy butt clean. TMI I know but....it's TP thread lol
Off the K-Trail in Oklahoma
Johnson Mesa, New Mexico Where they filmed some scenes in the original Red Dawn
Somewhere in the Carson Ntl Forrest, NM
Another spot in Carson Ntl Forrest. We took my buddy's AWD Escape. Turned out to be surprisingly capable even without a low range...
Your temp wiring is better than most peoples permanent wiring :tearsofjoy:
The MV50 was on my list for an OBA setup for a long time. Good to see you got such good service out of yours. Right now I carry a bagged Viair 84P and since I run a factory tire size that results in acceptable to me...
We all see these things. There's a guy down the road from where I work. I see his Wrangler everyday I work. Full on overland setup driven to work every day. He may use it or he may not, I can't say for sure but hauling around 1000 lbs of extra gear to go back and forth to work...
Here's the food brick.
WaterBrick 1833-0007 FoodBrick Stackable Food Storage Container, 3.5 gal, 27 lb Dry Food, Green
Color me impressed. Ill be buying a few of the water and food bricks. Right now my food storage is a milk crate.
Busted some.tires off the 2 SE wheels I've managed to acquire after installing some drop anchors in my garage for my cheap ass tire changer.
Now to prep the wheels and paint them then scrounge up 2 more.
Ive had very few sidewall issues with P rated tires. The only sidewall punctures ive had would have happened with LT tires too IMO. For lighter vehicles LT tires can make for a really crappy ride which if were honest with ourselves the road is where we spend a large chunk of time.
FWIW all i...
Yes. Recieve is much less sensitive to antenna tuning than transmitting and those NOAA stations are transmitting from.high antenna locations with a 1000 watts.
All installations should be checked with a meter doesnt matter what band you are using. But youll be less likely to need adjustment on VHF/UHF over what you get on the market. Higher is most certainly better. Antenna length not so much it just needs to be a match. Half wave is less ground plane...
