What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Rebalanced my back wheels. Shop neglected to remove old stickon weights when tires were installed and also used 3 different types of wheel weights for my aluminum wheels. Rebalanced using my bubble balancer. Also changed rear diff fluid since its about 250 miles overdue

Typical dealer. Either the manual is telling them they need to do that or theyre trying to pull one on you. They know the shortcuts too but if book says they need to do it Theyll charge you for it Local dealer told me rhey wanted 1500 to do a rear main seal on a 4.0L XJ. Claimed they had to...

    Retired my jumper cables

I've got one of those small lithium jumpers that I carry around with me but I still carry a light duty set of cables under my seat. It rides with my factory tire changing stuff so it really doesn't take up any extra space so I'm ok with it.

Best Budget/Used Nav System for Beginner

You can download offline maps on google maps, I've downloaded half the state of Texas, half of Oklahoma, and all of Arkansas, as long as you have space you can download whatever you want. I always do this prior to a trip as well as download tiles for backcountry nav on my tablet. I used to be...

Anyone else cook under the hood?

The 99+ XJs with the coil rail have a spot just behind the coil rail and next to the trans dip stick where you can sit a can of soup (my favorites are the Campbell Chunky Soups) and after about 30 minutes of wheeling you have a piping hot meal, it can go forward or sideways due to the dipstick...

    GVWR?

I put this TPMS system on my 95 XJ last November. Still going strong. I figure at 33 dollars even if it only lasts a year I'll just buy another one and stick it on there and call it good. It gives pressure and temp readouts and you can set it up to alarm at too low and too high pressures...

Theyre sold as a side.by side. You can get them plated in some states. And the 45mph top speed is due to a computer programed govenor. Theres at least one compnay that sells a program.for it that will give yiu a healthy power boost and remove the 45mph govenor.

    2018 Mahindra Roxor Safari Rig

Yes and no. It's not offically a Jeep but Mahindra has been building MB style Jeeps since the late 1940s when they got a license to do so. They've maintained that license to build Jeeps ever since then though all the various owners that the Jeep brand has passed though. Think of this as a...

    Cummins R2.8 in California

Yes very aware. Grew up here (well west of Fort Worth anyway) since 91 when my family moved to Texas. My old home county doesn't do emissions either. Too small. I remember when that program first came online and people were trying to go into Mineral Wells to get inspections from Parker...

    Cummins R2.8 in California

The vast amounts of public access land to explore, wheel, and camp on almost made me and the wifey decide to stay there, even with the ridiculous firearms and other laws. It has it's perks but the cost of living pretty much ruled that out for us.

    New Midland MXT275 (GMRS Mobile)

It's totally going to depend on your repeater's location and elevation. My regular GMRS repeater where I live I can easily hit from about 40 miles away and a similar distance on the other side of the repeater so that would give me about 80 miles total range. Of course you can get into...

Camp stove advice for plans for future global overlanding (Coleman Dual Fuel 424?)

I have a 424 and like it quite a bit but it is quite bulky and takes up a good bit of space when not in use, mainly in it's "thickness". I've been contemplating selling it or trading it for a thinner unit that runs on propane. I do have the propane adapter for my 424 and honestly use the...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Rattlecanned some SE wheels I'm collecting up so I have a set of MTs for Off Pavement trips that I can keep stored and run my Cooper ATs for daily and light trail use. And rerattlecanned my sliders to the same color as the SE wheels. "Satin Otter Brown"

OB Approved Overland Safety: Fire Extinguishers

Our aircraft engine fire extinguishers were charged with HFC125. I figure if its dafe enough for a million dollar gas turbine full of exotic metals its probably safe for an engine bay. Id love to.have a precharged/routed system like they sell for race applications with an internal pullhandle...

Inspiration... how or what do you use for your devices?

You have to use a second stabilizer mount higher up. In the past I've used an aircraft style rubber cable clamp to attach the bar up on the center console and also used a second ram ball mounted to the center console with a ram arm clamped around the bar to do the same thing.
