I carry 2 3.0 aH batteries plus 2 of the small 1.5aH batteries for my B&D tools. The smaller batteries i only use on my drill the larger ones i use on my chainsaw, sawsall and small circular saw.
On longer trips I could toss my quick charger in there and power it off of my small inverter...
There's nothing saying you are restricted to one radio. With today's compact radios you can easily install each radio you need. I run HAM/GMRS, and CB as well as a small APRS setup.
The other guys are right. Strictly speaking a non Part 95E radio isn't legal to use on GMRS, this is why Ham Radio Outlet will not do a MARS/CAP mod to a radio without proof you belong to one of those organizations. But if you are even remotely handy most can be either software modded or have...
I did the math on his numbers. If it really takes his 21 gallon reserve plus his 23 gallon onboard tank that's 44 gallons to get to Hot Springs from Lewisville, which is about 309 miles. So about 7mpg. Sounds like something's wrong with it to me. Or maybe carrying 126lbs of gas on the roof...
There's GMRS radios out there that run 40 and 50 watts. Then you've got all the commercial surplus units people use on there and in the HAM bands as well.
No one would be able to tell except maybe the FCC with one of their 3 enforcement vans with a lot of gear onboard to detect signals. Yeah...
Many radios, mostly from China, can right out of the box transmit on those frequencies. Nearly any radio can be moded via a "MARS/CAP MOD" to run on those frequencies.
There are tons of HAM guys out there running radios with that mod.
But thats a decision each person has to make for...
Nothing saying you can't run more than one radio. I run HAM/GMRS and CB. I may or may not have an "open" radio to cut down on the how many radios I have installed at any one time.
Test fit my longer tarp for my poor guy awning. Old one was 6x8 but made of canvas. This one is lighter vinyl but is 6x12. Much more covered area to relax or cook under.
Not really. Ive seen channel 20 and it's repeater pair talked about as being kind of an emergency channel but you wont find much in the way of anything even remotely offical or u offical. Dont depend on GMRS for emergency use anyway.
I've been spending a lot of time around Broken Bow over the last year since it's only about 2 hours away from me here in Greenville. Tons of dispersed camping spots that haven't been used in a long time.
I went from a 10 inch to a 7 inch tablet and am happier than I was with the 10 inch tablet. Less dash space sucked up and the 7 inch tablet is lighter and bounces less.
OP- go to Amazon and search for Android tablets. There are tons of options that have GPS built in.
This morning I got up cause the dogs wouldnt stop barking and decied to go clean up my center console secondary radio spot install. I routed the SAE connector in and slapped a grommet on it, this will power up any of my radios. Then put all the APRS stuff in there and Routed all the cabling...
