Streaming though Pandora/YT Music, ect when out of cell service downloaded music, podcasts and audiobooks. Oh cassette tapes too since I still have my OEM cassette deck in my Jeep :D
Currently on a 04 Vstrom 650. Had it since 2013. Have beat the ever loving hell out of it all over SOCAL and the SOuthwest when I lived there, did multiple cross country trips on it. I think it's bike #14 for me and the one I've had the longest now. Been doing a lot less ADV bike riding here...
I've been to Hawaii a few times for work. The first time I went I asked the desk clerk at the on base billeting (Hickam) to direct me to the closest hole in the wall diner/breakfast place. We wound up down a back alley at a place that was probably someone's backporch eating spam/eggs/rice off...
That's why I love my griddle. Fits on my 2 burner stove and evens out the heat quite a bit. I actually use my GI Mess Kit pan on top of it if I'm going to use it instead of cookign directly on the burners. to help control the heat better.
Old school XJs aren't exactly known for their abundant power oulets so I added a low profile USB port into the passenger side cubby to power the nav tablet and give my wife a place to charge things when she goes with me.
Sewed up a cargo net for the top of my rear cargo box. I bought a 10 dollar 6 pack of cam buckle straps from Amazon, mostly for the cam buckle part but the webbing was reused for this project as well instead of burning though my existing webbing. I took one strap removed the cam buckle and...
That would be bone simple for a machine shop to build. Take the hook off and take it to them and tell them you need this but with a hole for a shackle instead of a hook. Maybe take them a photo of kind of what you want for reference. When I worked at a machine shop we probably could have...
Ammoland looked into this and the numbers surprised many folks. Not a true study but it seems as though even 9mm is capable of ending encounters.

I probably use the GAIA topo the most and either layer in or switch to others as I need them. The GAIA topo seems to be the most well rounded for basic navigation to me anyway. I'm checking on that cell service map now. THat's a neat feature.
Here's a picture of the brackets. The mounting holes are slotted so should allow some "adjustment". Not sure I'd trust he hardware in that picture though.
You're not going to get much bigger than 12k for a consumer off the shelf winch. Warn make a 8 1/4 ton winch but really 12 K should be...

You said you talked to someone at Rough Country but didn't say what they said.
Ozarks is nice. I'm about double the distance as you. A 3 hour drive out there would make it worth it to me for regular weekend trips. It's about 6 hrs one way for me and I'd want 3 or 4 days out in it to make it worth my while.
I can't think of any legitimate reason to spend the time and effort needed to do so. You'd need to carry around something like an 8 foot copper rod to do it properly and many areas I doubt you'd get it far enough in the ground due to rocks, roots ect.
We grounded all of our aircraft when...
You're only an hour away from Holly Springs National Forrest. 154,000 acres. Looks like they have some decent Forrest Service roads, dispersed camping should be easy enough to find.
I picked up one of the Lifetime Rotomolded coolers from Walmart. Works great for my uses. Not uncommon for me to go 5 days between ice. I exercise all the normal cooler ice preservation techniques as well which helps. You don't get the YETI or RTIC sticker to go on your vehicle so no one...
In camp it's never been an issue, the kid who currently goes with me isn't interested in the tablet until we get ready for bed or during long slogs of sitting in the back of the Jeep with nothing to do. I'll let her watch a short cartoon before bed or around the camp fire and on the road she...
Used a Samsung TAB3 10inch tablet for a LONG TIME before it finally wouldn't run mapping programs worth a crap. It had problems with even google maps. Even after 2 factory resets it just wouldn't run those programs well anymore. I picked up a $75 VANKYO 7 inch Android tablet to replace it and...
