Press the "moni" button and it opens the squelch immediately without digging though menu options. Press the "moni" button again and it closes it and goes back to whatever setting you had it set to before.
Ordered this about a month ago. Used it a few times now. It's not height adjustable but is just the right height for me and gave me a lot more space and more stability than I did have.
I've got a knock off of a Helinox Chair One. I keep two in the cargo area of my Jeep. They take up very little space when packed but sit nice. They aren't high back though. I think they were 40ish dollars each.

I've found scissor jacks to be quite useful. They practically give them away at junkyards. Weld a nut on the end and you can run them with you impact or drill driver. Same for those Jeep screw type bottle jacks. They pack a lot smaller than something like a hilift and are a lot lighter...
Chainsaw no. Impact gun hell yeah. When my last compressor died I ran all of my shop air tools of of my 20 lb CO2 tank for a while. NOT a powertank. No way I would spend the money they want for a gussied up CO2 setup. A 20lb tank will air up quite a few tires, and run an impact gun for...
Not sure if it will be a fad or not. Maybe for as long in our niche group anyway as "overlanding" lasts as a fad. I do think that with places like Jeep Jamboree moving to GMRS/FRS that we will see a more permanent shift from CB as the go to though.
I run stock sized tires (235/75R15 not exactly stock but pretty close) and run the largest VIAIR they have that still plugs into the lighter port. I can be aired back up and ready to roll in about 10 minutes. In the past I ran CO2 onboard and while that's the fastest I've used it takes up a...
You can do it with a quarter wave antenna and about 30 or more watts of power. You gotta have a ISS tracking app and be on your toes cause the windows are pretty small even if it's passing pretty close to you, and you're only going to get about 1 or maybe 2 passes a day. I've seen videos of...
The axle side trackbar mount can also become "wallowed" out. This can be repaired by welding a grade 8 washer in place. Double and triple check the axle side mount to ensure it's tight.
People don't make sense in general. All they see is a test vs no test. And turn key convenience of GMRS vs having to mess around with HAM radio programming and learning band plans and what not.
The access to repeaters both GMRS and HAM is well worth the cost of the licenses. Start messing around on people's repeaters without callsigns and people are going to take a special interest in tracking you down and turning you into the FCC. A lot of HAM guys are retired folks and enjoy "fox...
I'm pretty adept at Basecamp but yeah Garmin software has a steep learning curve. I used to be fairly active in a Sport Touring motorcycle association and they even had "Garmin Mapsource/Basecamp" classes because the software just wasn't intuitive. I moved to Gaia about 6 months ago and...
Hard to beat the Trasharoo for the cost. My buddy built his own for fun and even he said he spent almost as much on materials as he would have just buying a Trasharoo. That's not even counting his time.
If you go on amazon and type in "car trashcan" there are tons of options. I didn't...
Typically it's recommend to wire your radio straight to your battery, with proper circuit protection of course. This helps cuts down on electronic interference from the vehicle and allows you to run the radio at any time. Radios when they are idle do not draw much power, varies from radio to...
