Found my exhaust leak(s) was expecting to find a cracked header (because Jeep) which is why i had already ordered up a new one. So i guess ill put the old header in the attic as a spare. I had put this gasket and header on about a year and a half ago.
Got my Venkyo tablet returned and picked up a Lenovo M8 for just under 100 dollars. So far so good. Much better GPS chip, and the whole touch screen works lol
Quick answer is no. FRS radios are FRS radios and GMRS radios are GMRS radios.
Longer Answer-
"Dual Service" radios stopped being allowed to be sold in 2017 when they made a bunch of changes to the GMRS/FRS rules. While GMRS FRS share the same simplex frequencies you can't use a GMRS radio...
Daily carry is a Kershaw Brawler spring assist. Cheap enough I don't care about using it for nearly everything. When camping I use it for small tasks including cutting up food. Less cutlery to carry to just use my pocket knife for eating, it cleans up fine. I also typically carry a...
Tarp, guy lines and a couple of painter's poles. Attach the tarp to your vehicle however you can come up with then roll up the poles and guy lines into the tarp and bungie them to the vehicle. when you get to where you want to setup undo the bungies, roll out tarp, guy it out and boom awning...
Wonder if the guy was local and knew the deceased.
As for booby traps. It happens on the road too. More than one popular motorcycle road has been booby trapped with oil spills and gravel in corners and whatnot. Some folks have been arrested for placing them there over the years.
Everything is prepacked on my shelving. Most of the stuff doesn't change whether I'm going out for a night or weeks other than how much food and clothing I'm carrying. For an overnighter I probably won't rig up my pressurized water either and just toss a 5 gallon jug in there.
Just gotta look outside of Wranglers for the low cost Jeeps. Grand Cherokees (ZJs, WJs) sometimes XJs but their prices are slowly climbing and finding a clean stock one is getting harder.
NOAA Weather Radio. Practice listening to it at home before using it to get your weather in the sticks. Some GMRS radios have it, some CBs have it, if you have a HAM radio you can just program the stations in...
I have some of the older ones on DVD as well. Motortrend On Demand has them back to 2013 I believe. I have some from prior to that I'd have to dig though my big binder o' DVDs and see which ones.
The entire shindig was in Alaska IIRC. Off Road Power Products had their videos out late last year or early this year on You Tube. Motor Trend had been releasing little bits of it for a while via YOutube. I have been checking the Ultimate Adventure section of the Motor Trend app monthly since...
I just meant the oven. I'm pretty happy with my dual burner propane stove. I liked my dual fuel 424 for the most part after it was running. Didn't care for futzing with it to get it up and going when a propane stove is just a spark away from being ready to go. And it was larger than I wanted...
Basically non existent. Very little of Texas is public land. The majority of "overland" type routes are basically just graded gravel county and farm roads. Very little in the way of dispersed camping with few exceptions.
If you are used to the land available for various outdoor use in the...
