Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I just guided two overlanding tours through Death Valley (with ModernJeeper) with some lessons learned about the desert:
1. Always expect wind.
2. Have a practiced, camp set-up system and always use it.
3. Make sure everyone in your group has a good, working radio that they can hear.

On a recent Death Valley overlanding trip, we hit wind a few nights -- I mean WIND.!
Cooking my coffee in the bright and ugly morning was a challenge. My old school gear was marginal. But I found a fix to get my pot to perk.
I know. It's kinda hokey. But I had hot coffee in near...
I just returned from a 10-day overlanding trip to Death Valley.
The biggest lesson I learned, dragging a 1/4 ton trailer and camping in a tent-cot, is: Have a system and Always use it!
You are more than welcome, anyone, to always share my stuff to any off-road/overland/four-wheeling/adventure site or group -- as long as they are on our side to keep our access open! Thanks. FB groups are a good choice to supplement what we do here on OLB.
For sure! I can tell you, if you want to get brave, invest a little time, find out where "these people" hang out. (smile). It's probably not here on OLB. Find the forums or FB pages where they seem to be posting, and start setting the example that way -- and offering up education. Then BE...

Accept the fact that we will always have the ill-informed or the...

Wow, that thing is cute. One thing about fiberglass -- it's easy to repair and you don't have to know how to weld! Boat repair kit is all you need in those rare instances.
You probably don't want to hear about "days gone by" but I offer this in the hopes that you always take plenty of good pics on your adventures. And keep track of your notes and encounters. I did the tunnel almost 30 years ago when Evelyn Tonie Seger was still alive and living in the nearby...
When it comes to food, combined with overlanding-camping out, added in to a work weekend like our Trail Guardian program...what is your choice ?
1. Feed me at least one big meal, group style; the rest of the time I'm good on my own.
2. I just like doing my own food; no need to feed me.
3. Feed...
