Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
We're swinging through Roanoke for some oven shopping inn the morning so I'm not 100% what time I'll get there. I'm going to be monitoring the WA1ZMS repeater on the way in and probably FRS 4 and 146.460 at the flea market.
My beater is a 288a, the non-dualfuel version of that. I did read the other day that some of the 285s were designed to run on E10 gas as well as regular unleaded. You can do a kerosene conversion on that family of lantern pretty easy it seems. Just swap on a 288 genny as they are slightly...
I got one of their bags for a growler that fit my Coleman single burner stove a few months ago. That thing is great! I'm eyeballing one of their recovery bags with the soft shackles and the nice ARB snatch strap.
I was bashing my steps up and decided that I'd put the money into sliders before I wasted a rocker panel like I did on my Cherokee. I'm still a rock crawler at heart and I was getting brave now that I'm comfortable with the Xterra. I've got most of the stuff for a 2" lift next summer when I'm...
I ordered the White Knuckle Offroad sliders with the tube at 10* instead of the usual 25* (?) so it makes a little more of a step to access the roof or climb in. My wife is only 4'11" and my kids are all young, so it made sense to get that option. Plus, it will provide a very small bit of extra...
Give me a shout if you get up this way! We usually hit the OBX for a week in July each year with my family. I'll get up with you when we head down next year and we can grab a beer or something.
Looking forward to it!
I've done that repeatedly, burnt the catalyst with denatured alchol inside and out, trimmed the gunky end off the wick, even heated the catalyst with a propane torch just as the preheat flames died down to try to get the reaction started and nothing has worked.
What lanterns? I've got a 512 heater I've given up on getting running that I'm trying to get rid of. The tank is beautiful but I think it needs a new wick.
In the US, they aren't as picky outside of big cities if you aren't threatening someone. I carry a "tactical" folder in my pocket, a Mora in my pack, and have either a hatchet or axe in my vehicles. Then you can mix in a few different fixed blades I carry when I'm camping for different reasons...
I thought I'd add to this and bump it up for other addicts. The sickness is growing, I'm up to 7 lanterns and 4 stoves, and looking to aquire 3-5 more lanterns this weekend.... :anguished:
I'm working on a late 50's KampLite that probably won't do much camping, but will get run around the house...
