Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I would recommend regearing and adjusting your driving style to suit your power level. Power adders are a good way to cook an engine and don't make for good long term dependability. Plus you have all the non-stock parts that go along with them that you'll be hard pressed to find at parts stores...
FYI There are already at least two groups going to Flag Pole this weekend. An Xterra group I'm a member of and another group (can't remember who) going out to do a trail cleanup. It's likely to be pretty crowded up there with that.
I'm still on the fence about coming. Have to see how my...
I'm not sure what happened there. I thought I had marked going.... I may have clicked not going after visiting the rally point again.
As for coms, I have a hand held CB I can use but I'm a Ham too. I just try to push FRS/GMRS when I can. CB is such a long wave length that a lot of its ability...
Since I spend 90% of my time on paved or graveled roads, I went for on-road manners.
This is my 3rd set of Cooper Discoverer tires and I've been very pleased with them. I run the load E tires since they are a little tougher construction and I run a little heavy sometimes by the time you get my...
Any type of pulling system, be it a come-along, tirfor, Hi-Lift kit or full on winch should be rated at 1.5x the weight of your vehicle. Using a snatch block or yarding block and doubling your line is an advantage of the vehicle mounted winches and tirfors. It can be done with the Hi-Lift if...
How about instead of CB we go with FRS/GMRS. Then you can just grab one of the blister packs of radios from Walmart and don't have to go through an install.
I built brackets that attach to my roof rack cross bars to hold them on the outside of the roof basket. It's 1x.125 aluminum and S/S 1/4" hardware with some 3/8" tubing in the mix. It's worked pretty good so far.
@AdamK1981 We could probably meet earlier. Mike and I were just thinking noon since it probably won't take that long to cover the roads we're thinking about and then get back to Roanoke. What time were you thinking?
We spent a few hours Sunday riding around through some surrounding areas that we'd never been in before. We logged a few finds along the way and everyone had a good time. We did a little maintenance to one of the caches where a baggy had torn and the log was wet.
Next meet-up is in a couple weeks! Mark your calendars!
@witchdoctor_33 and I are going to try to meet-up around Lexington for some driving around in the countryside.
He's got a Rally Point up for that:

I care. Many folks who DON'T break laws just because they don't align with their wants care. Those of us who put in the time and effort to learn the material and pass the tests care and don't want people invading our licensed frequencies and interrupting our contacts, experiments and enjoyment...
I've never seen a Bernz in the wild, so to speak. A buddy stumbled on a lantern but passed because the modern cans done want to fit whatever model he found. That same place has an old Coleman lamp (decorative) with a shade but we've not managed to convince ourselves that it's worth what they're...
