Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I'm guessing this is directed at me?
I'm not against keeping one up as a user and not an owner. I'm not saying that I wouldn't and don't attempt to leave them in better shape than I found them. It would be nice to have the ownership turned over so updates can be logged though. Such as a...
Some of the trails I've been on would be slow going for a crew cab full size truck, but they'd be doable if you weren't too worried about the paint. Most FS roads are plenty wide though and you'll be fine.
We use one of my variety of Coleman white gas stoves. We have a single burner backpack style that usually stays in my X, a small two burner if there's just a couple of us, a larger two burner if we're going to use the griddle or oven, and a three burner for whole family trips. They all work...
Ham testing is free in many clubs or at a small cost if anything. It takes a couple weeks reading and studying to be legal and get the full benefit. Why not? I'm sure you have a driver's license even though you could operate a vehicle without one.
It's illegal because CBers aren't required to have any knowledge beyond how to key the mic and substandard equipment that's unregulated causes interference across huge amounts of spectrum. Most tuned CBs are just making a mess out of the air waves and even if your CB is tuned up, you are still...
I never could get the cat heater I had to run. Eventually sold it to a guy who collects them for what I had in it. (Not much)
I love my lanterns and stoves though. I've got a 228 hanging in the shop waiting for some warmer weather to get a mild cleanup and lighting.
That appears to be a metallurgical issue with the parts. I'd take pictures and the vehicle to Jeep. Looks like you're probably gonna get a new axle or at least a rebuild under warranty if it's still good.
I disagree. It can cause trouble if there's a missing or damaged cache and people keep making it found. I wish people would stay up to date on their contact info too. There are some caches around that I would gladly take ownership of to be able to repair them and keep them alive.
I picked up two of the metal handle tire plug kits from Amazon after BOTH of my plastic handle ones broke trying to plug one of my AT3 tires a few weeks ago. Also had to get front driveshaft u-joints and get them installed before this sleet-fest began.
I think my next purchase is going to be a...
Another group is getting a trip to Peter's Mill Run going. I'm going to try to make it.

Some of us are talking about meeting up for a ride through the countryside before the meet-up. Probably nothing requiring 4wd, just a little exploring.
Thinking about meeting in Lexington around noon.
Don't forget the Nissan Frontier! You can get them in crew cab with a full 6' bed and the Pro4X off-road package that includes a rear locker! I've been very happy with my Xterra and would gladly own a Frontier if I was in the market for a small pickup.
Got the old u-joints out of my front driveshaft. I don't have any grease to reassemble them so when we go out in a bit I'm gonna grab a tub. I'll hopefully get them back together tomorrow and have the shaft ready to put back in. I've still got to see about some bolts to put back. I'm trying to...
That little pickup is cool! I had a 98 2dr SE and loved it. The unibody rotted out over the rear axle and I didn't have the time to fix it properly so it got sold off and replaced with a K2500 pickup. I wish I had kept the Jeep to use all the good parts I had on it on a 4dr for family travels...
