Who overlands for the purpose of photography?

I would love to meet him when I get back to Colorado. I have been thinking about doing just that. I am also a tool and die maker and have my own CNC mill and full shop.

Who overlands for the purpose of photography?

I have seen 4x5 digital backs. You could buy a house cheaper. The only thing you can't really do in digital post process that a view camera gives you is the changing of the focus plane by tilting the front lens. The increased sensitivity of the sensor over film gives you way more depth of...

Who overlands for the purpose of photography?

The wife and I were professional photographers back in the early 70's. We had a new Chevy Van that I cut the top out of and put a fiberglass standup top on. I built the whole interior. We ranged up and down the Rockies from Mexico to well up into Canada. We did large limited edition custom...

    Colorado/Utah

If you are in the Ouray/Silverton/Ouray area, there are an additional two trails I very highly recommend. The first is Corkscrew. Not hard and the views are stunning. Second it Yankee Boy Basin, off of Imogene Pass. It is a great place to spend a day just soaking up the beauty. A nice...

Currently working in Rochester NY but my contract is ending. It looks like I will either be going to Salt Lake City or Dulles, VA next.

    Colorado/Utah

If you are in the Moab area, check out White Rim Trail. It is a multi-day trip but some of the most awe inspiring scenery you will ever find. I second the Alpine Loop in Colorado. It is good for a mildly built expedition vehicle. Pull a trailer only if it is offroad capable and you have lots...

Good luck with the trails being open that early.

    Jacks?

I'm running 35's and don't need anything else. I do however carry a block to put under it if needed.

What keeps you from overlanding more?

I've been around a long time and I have an answer to this problem. When I don't have time, I normally have a few bucks, so I plan and I slowly but consistently buy what I will need, that way I have the parts on hand when available time comes up (with no cash). I am stuck on a contract in...

Anyone from the Finger Lakes Region?

What does an out of state fishing license cost in NY. If it is like everything else, I probably would have to take out a second mortgage.

Anyone from the Finger Lakes Region?

I left my rig at home. I drove out with a different car. I hope to fly back a few times for a long weekend and head to the mountains with the wife. Still looking for people local to talk to and see their rigs. Working 50 hours a week and being away from family does not leave me with much...

On Board Air from CO2 Tanks

I had nothing but grief with the adjustable regulators freezing. I went with a cheap fixed pressure regulator and have had no problems since.

Get Over it!!! (Overland Humor :-)

A young boy was sitting on Santa's lap. Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas. The boy said a unicorn. Santa replied, there is no such thing as a unicorn. Santa asked the boy what his second choice would be. The boy answered, a jeep that doesn't break down or leak oil. Santa...

    Colorado or bust

How well equipped is your Tacoma and Jeep. I can recommend dozens of trails but I need to know your experience level in rock crawling/offroad and how capable your vehicles are. How are you with narrow off camber shelf roads with hundreds of feet of drop off?

    Ever been lost?

I am the same way. You rarely find it any more. I pay attention to what is around me, all the time. I always know which way is North and how far I have gone. Most people these days get lost if GoogleMaps isn't available.

    Nashville, Tennessee

Well, the bad news is that I won't be coming to Nashville. I am bummed. On the bright side, I got a contract in Rochester, NY for almost $70k more. I still want to come down and explore, maybe in 6 months or so.
