On Board Air from CO2 Tanks

I called General Air and they will refill a painted tank. They are also less than half the cost of Airgas.

    Jacks?

The cradle consists of a short piece of tube just big enough to go over the circular top piece and has a C shaped bar that the axle would fit into.

    Jacks?

I have a neat 12 ton bottle jack with air over hydraulic. I connect it to my CO2 tank and a quick press of the button and it is up. I love the combo idea with a jack stand but more important to me is having a large cradle on the top of the jack so it does not slip off of the axle. I am just...

Sleeping with a c pap machine

I used about a 30 foot extension for the 12v cord.

    Shocks - will these fit?

A quick tip. Go to Rock Auto and look up both vehicles and see if the part numbers are the same.

    Fall Drives in Colorado??

There are some 60's hold overs in Montezuma. They get really pissed if you don't just idle through what they call town. They hate outsiders and I have been told of people getting yelled at and there are stories of shots being fired. I was not personally there to see it but I have heard it...

    Fall Drives in Colorado??

Good luck this time of year. Pretty much all the trails around Keystone have been closed for weeks if not a month or more. You might be able to get back up to Montezuma but watch for the crazy hippies. Remember if there is enough snow to ski, most trails will be closed. Not saying you can't...

Have you ever tried negotiating access to ranch land?

Having grown up on a ranch, I find out who has control and give them a call. I start by explaining my background and that I grew up fixing fences trespassers ruined and I would never do that. I also mention that I carry a personal liability insurance policy. I politely ask if we might work...

If I get word tomorrow or Wednesday on the contract, I may be there. Wish me luck. I'm pretty much packed and ready to go.

Best Bang for Buck Overland Rig

Why would you buy a more expensive less capable rig when an easy fix is available. The chassis only becomes an issue when you beat the snot out of it for multiple years. The level most people on here push their offroading to is well within the capabilities of the vehicle. In all my rears of...

Best Bang for Buck Overland Rig

There are easy and fairly cheap fixes available.

    Compressor with air tools. Really?

I run a 20# CO2 tank and have for close to 20 years. I use it for airing up 35's and it is real handy for my impact when changing tires. It also works good for setting a bead. Being somewhat handicapped, I carry an air over hydraulic bottle jack. Slide it under and hook up the bottle and...

Happy Thanksgiving or best wishes for whatever you celebrate today!

One of the many things I celebrate today is finding a bunch of people who don't think I'm weird because I want to get away from people and stay in the middle of nowhere.

I also trimmed and rolled the fenders before mounting the fender flares.

While I was at it, I fab'd a new rear bumper. Note: being the obsessive compulsive fabricator, I even made it follow the radius of the rear of the vehicle. The shackle mounting tabs actually run 20" up inside the frame and are bolted through the frame and gas tank skid.
