Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I know I have thought about an Excursion build several times but come to my senses when I start adding up the to do list. It would be easy to live out of one of those for a while with room to spare!
Thinking of a used PW 2005 - 2010 anything I should be looking for? I have noticed that some have the factory sliders and some don't personally I'd really like the factory sliders! Am I missing anything else? Are the changes made in 2014 worth financing? - Thanks!
This is a question that I have asked my self a lot lately. I have owned both but only ever used an SUV for overloading since I like sleeping in the rig. But with some of the awesome solutions available that is becoming less of an issue (RTTs, Bed Solutions, Toppers, Light Campers, ETC).
I...
I'd vote for the Ford Excursion stay away from the 6.0L diesels unless you know what you are doing and how to fix their issues i.e. bulletproof them. Solid front axle, several engine choices lots of space. Here is a write up from another site...
Doubt engine code has anything to do with your tires unless it happen to be caused by pushing the engine harder. Stock gearing with 35s and stock gearing is not going to be fun. If you want to have your speedo closer and your power / torque curve closer to stock you are going to need to regear...
Wow I'd love to see a 6.7L getting 25mpg! I'd imagine it would also require duct tape, pizza cutters at 85PSI 2WD with a standard cab hyper mile driving max 55 mph? but without tire modifications I would need to see to believe! I have owned a few cummins, 1 international 444 and one 6.6L...
As I am sure you are already figuring out there is a compromise to any choice.
Subaru: Yes you are going to miss your manual? Maybe if you feel that strongly about it get a Crosstrek still available with a manual. There are a lot of aftermarket support if you want to lift it, armor, racks...
I agree the best of both worlds is to use quick disconnects. Many of use spend a lot more miles on pavement then dirt and the possible situations you can run into on pavement which sways can keep your truck under control. With that said it really does depend on the rig, driver, use of the...
I've considered larger setups but only on temp basis, rig is as light weight as possible so I was considering something hitch mounted so it was easy to remove. Something like this...
For a full sized world traveler there are few diesels that I'd consider up to 1998 Cummins 12 Valve 2005 - 2006 cummins 24vlave HO both with manual transmissions. Not a fan of the diesel engines with current smog equipment we shall see how the FORD 6.7L but so far they have not been able to get...
