  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    Overland Communication Overview

I didn't have the phone app when I took my test years ago, but same principal, I took an online test over and over agian until I could pass it every time. Then went down and took the test and Aced it. We did a run 2 weeks ago to Colorado with 18 rigs. Before we left the decision was made that...

Getting it done on the Cheap

Everyone has pretty much covered the basics here but I'll throw in a couple things. Pick a rig that is easy to get parts for, or one you have parts for already. I consider my truck fairly well equiped (IE heavy fat overbuilt LOL). One reason it has so many good parts on it was I was able to swap...

    Patch Question

Cool, thanks guys. Sounds the same as I'm doing it, may need to use better stuff though!

    Patch Question

For all you hardcore patch collectors, whats the best way to attach velcro to the back of a patch that doesn't have any. I've used just plain ol sticky backed velcro, and it works OK, but when its 115 here in Vegas, the glue lets up and the patch starts drooping. I know, Important Overlanding...

    Camp Shower (Merged)

Here's what I use. Its more complicated that a lot of systems out there, but I've had it forever and it works pretty good. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

    RTT packing suggestions

We don't stash the annex inside, its in a separate bag that goes with us if were going to use it or not. Trips with just me and the kids it'll stay at home, when the whole family goes we need it for space. What cracks me up, is when we received it everything was inside, annex, parts, rain fly...

    RTT packing suggestions

I personally think the overhang adds a lot of bulk to the package too. One guy we roll with has the same size tent as mine, but without the overhang. He get's 4 sleeping bags in it without any issue. Of course all of this is dependent on the type of sleeping bag your using too.

Have you ever used your fuel in your Geri Cans?

We always carry at least 5 gallons with us. The Nevada desert fuel stops can get pretty far apart and my truck is a thirsty pig with a small tank! There's been several times I've poured it in mine or someone else's just so I wasn't coasting in on fumes to a fuel stop. It's also good insurance...

    RTT packing suggestions

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! We played with it some more and seem to have figured out a couple tricks, mainly I jumped up on top of it to compress it down and latch the sides. That seemed to help a lot and was much easier to work with. I really like the idea of throwing a couple things on...

    RTT packing suggestions

The wife and I just got a CVT Mt. Shasta RTT and have been playing with packing it up. Anyone have any suggestions for packing up bedding inside? I threw our 2 sleeping bags inside, 0 deg Teton's laid out flat of course, and it seems to add some significant thickness to the overall package. I...

    Kids and Overlanding

We've got 3 little ones that we take just about everywhere with us, 7 and 4 year old boys, and a 2 year old girl. It's SO MUCH work, but totally worth it, I can't wait for the day I can pull into camp, grab a chair, and watch them set everything up! Camping with other families that have kids...
