Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Fantastic! What an awesome adventure, with some spectacular photos for all of us to enjoy. You're very blessed to have such a loyal and gorgeous pupper to adventure with, too :)
To me, this is what overlanding is all about. Campsites are fine in their way, but personally I much prefer being way...
Welcome aboard! Lots of knoweldge and good info to be found on OB. I currently live in the North, near Smithers, but I hail from the LMD. Grew up in N.Van and began my off roading career in Chilliwack, so I have some decent local knowledge of the places you would most likely go wheeling.
New shoes on:
It's a little tight, but under normal driving, it doesn't rub. I think more bashing with the BFH and possibly a spacer on the trailing arm pivot to move that tire back a bit. Overall very happy.
I also went out to the bush and did a little hill climb to test out how much power...
I considered all kinds of different ideas lol
I've seen some footage of a guy in Ontario who mounted a 3000lb winch upside down on the factory bumper core winching himself out of a pretty deep, nasty, steep bog hole with no issues. This setup is going to be significantly stronger than that, and...
Discretion is the better part of valour, I always say.
There is a time and circumstance to push the limits and see what your rig is capable of overcoming. By yourself hundreds of miles from civilization is not that time or circumstance.
There have been many times where I've been "pretty...
I actually considered buying a back issue of that, although it's $20 so I'm not sure I want to spend that much, especially since it's a 2 parter and since I now have these videos.
Sick build. I absolutely love those Sidekicks - I almost bought one when I got my CR-V, but the sidekick had rust on the rockers and an oil leak, so I ended up going with the V.
Brilliant! Glad you got out of that harrowing experience with the good humor to share it :)
I recently learned that "corn snow" the slushy, patchy, granular snow condition found in the mountains in June when the melt is on, is very deceptive, nasty stuff.
The first few patches are shallow and...
I came across this amazing route and the story of a group of Land Rover lads who attempted it in 2009. In my research on the subject, I stumbled upon the video documenting the expedition. It's a pretty neat watch despite the old grainy video and messed up sound in places, especially for Landy...
Lol welcome to life in Northern BC. It can be in the high 20's Celsius in the day in spring and be very close to freezing at night. I actually had taken off my fleece in that photo because it was too hot.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about, 4 wheel independent suspension. I believe that's how they refer to it in the Honda literature.
Honda was one of the pioneers of its use. I don't often see it on big SUV'S like the Armada. Almost always IFS with a solid rear.
Nice! My adventure buddy who has a 2015 Taco uses that exact compressor. He's had good service from it, so should serve very well.
My advice is to grab yourself an air-down tool as well. I went for a long time without one and dang was I impressed when I finally bought one. 4wd Parts in langley...
