  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

General Observations about the influx of people to the outdoor world

Here's what tends to happen in these situations. A small number of total sh** heads who have no consideration for anyone but themselves come into an outdoor area and cause major damage/leave trash everywhere/crap on the ground and don't bury it/vandalize things etc. Law enforcement officials...

General Observations about the influx of people to the outdoor world

Definitely. I'm a huge supporter and will continue to be a paid member of 4wdABC because as an organization, we walk the walk on these issues. Members have done huge cleanup operations to the point of hauling burnt out hulks of vehicles and trailers out of the bush along with tons of trash. I...

General Observations about the influx of people to the outdoor world

I would agree with you that government deserves to be slammed much harder. There are a few coppers/rangers/etc. who deserve a swift kick up the ass though. This is coming from a 14 year LE veteran, btw.

General Observations about the influx of people to the outdoor world

You seem to have missed where I mentioned "government" officials. Speaking from where I live, lazy and incompetent law enforcement is sometimes part of the problem, for sure, but they are limited in what they can do; politicians are the bigger part of the problem because they aren't allocating...

General Observations about the influx of people to the outdoor world

The answer is to punish the crime and leave everyone else alone. A problem that goes hand in hand with these idiots you're talking about is lazy, apathetic, incompetent enforcement and government officials who find it easier to punish the innocent by shutting things down rather than actually...

Dispersed Camping in BC and Canada in general?

I bet they would take you if you asked nicely. Maybe call the operator and ask if they would be willing. Offer to sign a waiver if they're worried about liability.

    Pillow Talk

That's a very nice feature, and probably one that doesn't get recognized by most users. I live in Northern BC, so in the summer it stays light till almost 11pm and the sun comes up at 4:50am. I'm not so keen on waking up at that time lol. The cot tent I use for overlanding is better at blocking...

    Pillow Talk

I have a "MyPillow" I use every night, and that's what I always take. Best pillow I've ever owned. I agree with the many here who say a good pillow is critical to a good night's sleep. Slightly off topic, but another item I always take when camping is a padded sleep mask with a fuzzy inner...

I found this thread. Is this maybe the one you're referring to? Granisle Ferry | West Coast Ferries Forum

It also looks to me like if you generally follow the shore of Babine lake to Fort Babine, you can go a long way through the back country and link back up with the highway at the Bulkley river bridge, Suskwa FSR. Also, that road system seems to keep going beyond Suskwa FSR to the NW, although...

Dispersed Camping in BC and Canada in general?

Any land that doesn't show on the parcel map is crown land and therefore public. Crown land is the default for everything unless it's specified as something else.

Dispersed Camping in BC and Canada in general?

I'm taking a look at your route right now, and darned if you aren't coming right through my part of the world! I live just before Smithers in a place called Telkwa. Just yesterday, the fam and I found an absolute GEM of a rec site on a little lake off the 37 highway. I also know a pretty decent...

    1999 Honda CR-V - "Ganbaru"

Did the first trial fit today, and I was absolutely stoked to find out that the vehicle has a 1/2 hole from the factory that sits in just about the perfect spot, AND which perfectly lines up with the big fat bolt at the top of the factory tow plates: Amazingly, the bolt holes for the four...

Cool! I will try to load it up a bit later. Just working on the first test fit of my winch atm and the blazing heat is requiring me to take breaks lol

I should add, if you are able to share your planned route, I would have an easier time suggesting specific spots that might be good.

Dispersed Camping in BC and Canada in general?

Heyo! Dispersed camping is most definitely a huge thing in Canada, it just is not generally called that. I think most people call it Bush Camping. In Canada, basically everything that isn't private land, a municipality, park or a reserve is known as "Crown Land." From my understanding, it's...

    1999 Honda CR-V - "Ganbaru"

I went with 235/75/15 on the stock alloy wheels. It doesn't rub under normal driving, but it's tight. I'm probably going to massage the wheel wells in the back and probably put a spacer on the trailing arm pivot to make a bit more room. There's a slight loss of power with these tires, but...
