What is your favorite place to test gear?

Turns out, Moab is the perfect place to test a new setup. After dealing with a failing transmission, I proceeded to swap in an AX-15 from advance adaptors. At the same time we changed our sleep setup from a ground tent to a Crashpad double swag. All in all we are loving our new setup, although not having a failing transmission helps. Watch as we test out the new AX-15 conversion and the Crashpad Gear double swag.

What is the biggest upgrade/modification you have done on your own? Where is your favorite place to test out a new setup?

Hollister Hills OHV and Shaver Lake trails are my go-to's for testing and to shake stuff out on the trucks.

There's a lot of places i consider great for learning about your vehicle.
There will be hill climbs, rocks, water, mud, and deep soft sand.
There is usually about 20 vehicles around so getting stuck isn't a big issue. In fact, getting stuck is good so you learn about recovery.

I agree! If you are knew to this stuff choose a more popular area. I also think it’s a good idea to get some friends together and go get stuck. Sometimes the best way to learn a skill is to practice it.

Unfortunately, I’m well practiced in the art of self recovery.

Yep! We have a few dirt roads around the bay as well, but nothing that really is like the stuff you see in high speed desert sections... for those and general suspension tuning we have to go to friggen barstow...

Oh yea, the high desert is awesome fun! I think you can almost explore anywhere, if you look hard enough haha. On a side note If you go to Barstow, there are a few areas near Ridgecrest that are better in my opinion because they are not as crowded.
